The sweet spot did not happen until string 9 - 11 . The average of strings 9 and 10 is 1,044 fps. The average of strings 9 - 12 is 1,023 fps . That is a 60 shot string with a 10 percent deviation . The PSI is some were around 1,000 - 1,200 I think . I will use some CPH 10.5 pellets next time to slow it down some and find the best fill spot for this combination . This is basically the same as a Talon with a 24 inch barrel and a condor tank as well .Marvin

Peter with a PCP it tells you were to get on and off the plane at .And it gives you something to do between shots and if I think about it a little longer I am sure I will come up with so more reasons . Have a good year Marvin

It is surprising what can happen with low fill pressures . Some day may be A.f.  will realize that not every one thinks more PSI equals more FPS and take advantage of it . This would make hand pumping easy if one had to . Marvin

Excellent, looks like you are seeing a nice bell curve which should give you some good long range accuracy.  If you haven't seen it already Tim Macmurray made a great post recently on the Yellow forum about Airforce guns and their "sweet spots".  I thought I had the whole Talon thing worked out, but Tim's post taught me a bunch.  Have a look see when you get a chance, great info:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/message/1230830998/Air+Force+Sweet+Spot+101

I think you're right about Airforce not shooting for higher power at a lower fill, I think they are more targetted at promoting really high velocities at a higher fill pressure.....makes for great marketting to people that just want brute force from their airguns, not unlike Gamo and their "1600 fps with PBA" claims.  Anyways, as always excellent research Marvin!

btw: saw your picture of the Condor (the actual feathered version) and have to ask, how do you get such clean close up pictures without scaring away your prey?  Beautiful picture of what some would say is an ugly bird, I personally think they are beautiful:)

Dan the picture of the Condor was one I got off the net it was not mine . But I would like to get to the area these birds are in to get a few pictures of my own of them . I right now can zoom in about 1500 power with my multi plier lenses . But some day if I ever put down my air rifles I might try some telephoto shots were you use your telescope or spotting scope and take your shot through it . But that takes a lot of set up time and setting in one spot which I have not done yet . There is a water fowl refuge close I want to take the camera to but the rifle always ends up in my hands instead . I saw Tim's thread and I talked to him before I bought my rifle . His method of tuning is  much different than Talon Tunes from what I have seen . I did not talk to Tony so he might be prone to tuning to your desire more so than Tim . But like I said I am just playing around seeing what might be a good set up for this summer as well as what can be done for indoor shooting as well . These rifles are as basic as it can get and can be played with in so may ways I can see how it could easily get out of hand . I just love low fill pressures that 201 s Career I have taught me the value of low fills real quick . Marvin
