help needed with super streak
« on: January 15, 2009, 01:32:13 PM »
I decided to tear into my super streak,it's the last guns of mine to tune and the one I've been regretting.I was able to tear it down but what I found is where I need the help.I have only lube tuned 4 guns so far so maybe some of you more experienced (read REAL) tuners can relate to the feeling of opening up a gun and having bits of metal fall on the bench.
I found where the metal bits came from and this is my question, inside the piston there is or was a metal sleeve that appears to have been a spring cap made out of thin sheet metal rolled on the edges. My question is:does anyone know what this sleeve/cap is for and can it be eliminated because it eliminated it's self.I'm a tin knocker by trade and can make a new one if need be.
By the way my super streak is the dirtiest, nastiest recipe for stitches I think they sell can't wait to get her back together and smoothed out cause it did shoot good before I took her down.Thanks.

What came out was probably just a sheetmetal liner for the piston. Quite a few guns have those. It can be eliminated as long as the spring is in good shape & have a tight fitting spring guide and tophat.
