Some Clarification Needed
« on: March 31, 2010, 09:53:41 AM »
Cabela's advertises an RWS Model 34 Panther Pro Compact and  Pyramyd Air lists a Diana RWS 34P Pro Compact . Are these the same airgun? Also , the Diana RWS 34 Meisterschutze Pro Compact is advertised at Pyramyd Air. Is this the same as the other two except for the wood stock? I am new at this and I'm sorry for all the questions but I want to be sure I get the best gun for the money. Thanks for your help...

Yes, the RWS is the same as Diana and the rifle will carry both words.  There are several versions of the RWS 34 but all have the same power plant.

Sam is right. All of the Diana RWS 34's have the exact same powr plants right down to the triggers. Only difference is the older versions which have a different trigger but still in my opinion a good trigger..:) If you can get a good deal on an RWS Pro Compact buy it. You will not be sorry.

In regards to the "Pro", "Meisterschutze", "Compact" and "Panther" designations it is something like this:

Pro - Has a matte blue finish and a barrel weight or muzzle break if you prefer

Panther - Black synthetic stock

Meisterschutze - Longer stock that covers the breech pivot area.

Compact - Shorter barrel (15.6" vs 19.5").  If you check out a recent post on the Dianawerk Collective you can see that there is no velocity penalty for choosing a shorter barrel.

With the newer models coming out some of this is changing.  Panther models will be given their own designation (model 31).  It also looks as if all 34's and 31's will only come with the longer stock that covers the breech pivot area.  The Meisterschutze model does not appear in the latest brochure for 2010.

Welcome to the GTA forum! Not even a year ago I first ventured to the site and asked all sorts of questions.  In fact I STILL ask a lot of questions, mostly because I make a lot of mistakes with my air rifles. :)  I've personally ruined two so bad I had to send them off for repairs. :D  I still have one, but I'm waiting for Gene to see daylight before sending it to him for some Geneluvin.
