Josh from Crosman: FT Discovery
« on: January 22, 2009, 07:51:17 AM »
Are we going to see a production version of the FT Discovery that the Apelles boys have been shooting so well with?
I would really enjoy getting a reasonably priced AMERICAN PCP capable of being competitive with on the Field Target range. I need to move up to a full sized PCP in order to be a better as a FT shooter, and this application would fill the bill while meeting my meager budgetary restraints. Thanks

PS. While I have been shooting FT with my BSA Ultra, which was a gift, it's to light to shoot comfortable with.

Rick, See Jock Elliot's BLog on the AOA home page:

Scroll down and look at the "Challenger" This is apparently what you are asking about. Based on what I have read it is going to be power adjustable, sounds like it will fit the 3 position power level for CMP shooting, but can be adjusted up to 12 ftlb + for FT.
The current stable, (arsenal, quiver?): BSA Lightning XL .177, BSA Sportsman HV .22, BSA Ultra .177, CZ634 .177, Daystate Harrier X .177, TAU 200 Senior .177, HW 97 .177, HW 50s .177, HW 30 .177, RWS 92 .177, Gamo 126 MC Super, Gamo Big Cat .177, AR2078A, QB78 .177, Quest 1000 .177, Beeman SS650 .177., Beeman P17 .177.

Thanks, Stephanie. . The Challenger is basically a 10meter or 3 position rifle for shorter distances. FT requires around 900 fps to be competitive for FT. When I was at AOA 2weeks ago, the owner didn't think the Challenger was the same or if it could be converted reasonably. He also said that since Crosman seems to lean toward the mass marketing of Big 5, Dicks Sporting Goods, WalMart, etc.  It will be very interesting if they offer a FT model for this small community. I could see it coming from the Crosman Custom Shop, though. I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping!

Howeve , since this is what Josh said, I'll have to contact Hans and Ray and find out what it will take to make it competive for FT and if it wil be economically feasible. I do know that Hans has made a new trigger mechanism, but haven't heard if he wil market it
