Beautiful piece of work! Do you use chemical stripper or sand the old finish off? I am considering refinishing my old china  shooter.

I always sand the old finish off chemical stripper's are messy and if their is any fills or any glue used in the construction of the stock they will make them come apart  , and if you leave the butt plate on it will be fair with the wood, no little humps where the stock and the but plate go together.
