Leapers UTG 4X32AO
« on: January 16, 2009, 07:00:10 AM »
I just got this scope and mounted it on my Mike Melick tuned B26 today, and I must say for the money I don't think I could have got a better scope, I have Bushnells, Nikons and a Leupold on my powder burners, so I never really had any experience with Leapers optics, this is the Leapers UTG(under the gun) 4X32AO its a range estimating scope, with adjustable parallax, adjustable objective, and mil- dot recticle. It came with a set of rings and 2 piece weaver mounts, a optional 2 inch sun shade and flip up lens covers and a cleaning cloth all included in the box for $60. I didn't use the rings and mounts because I used a one piece mount with a built in scope stop, the lenses on the scope are very clear and the adjustments on it are very positive. All in all this is a excellent scope at a bargin of a price. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a great scope.

I found this same exact scope for 39.95 at Optics Planet, that's 20 bucks cheaper than I got it for, that's just my luck, lol. But seriously I thought it was a bargin at 60 bucks, it came with a set of accushot rings, a 2" sunshade, flip up covers, and a nice cleaning cloth, if you can find a better scope for less money, Buy it! On a side note one of the other members had some trouble with this same type of scope holding its zero for him, but mine is doing great and they are supposed to have a life time warranty, So for 40 dollars I'd take the chance,  just thought I'd throw that information in.

Shawn let us know how it does.I put a new one on my RWS-34 a couple of weeks ago and after 150-200 shots it quit holding zero and now the left Crosse hair is gone.

Sorry to hear about that, mine is doing great I've only had it about a month now but I've probably shot close to 1,000 rounds through it in that time and its dead on accurate. Have you contacted Leapers yet about having it fixed or replaced? They are supposed to have a limited life time warranty against any defects as long as the scope wasn't abused. I have heard another member complain about having trouble with his scope holding zero too, I think he ended up giving the scope away for shipping charges because he had already gone through two of them. I can't imagine why Leapers is having trouble with these scopes, they are their TS (true strength) series scopes, I must have got a good one (thank goodness) because my luck usually doesn't work that way. LOL. I hope Leapers fixes it for you and get the problems lined out, I really like mine so far, I was actually considering buying another one in 3X9X40 and putting it one my B26 and replacing the Bushnell 4X32 on my Savage Mark II with my Leapers because I like it so well. I may just spend a few exta bucks and get a Nikon pro staff.

I am glad yours is working. The one I have may just be a lemon. It looks like a lot of people have good service from the leapers.
I have not returned it, round trip freight will be half the cost of the scope.I do not want to add to my loss ,so I have not contacted anyone yet.
Guess I need to make up my mind.Mark

I don't understand why Leapers requires everyone to pay round trip shipping if the scope is defective they should pay the freight, I would complain with their customer service department and if that didn't work I would tell them that I would tell them that I was going to complain to everyone I know and write up the worst reviews of their product and post it everywhere that I could. Sometimes the squeeky wheel gets the grease, sometimes not, its worth a try.

Shawn,
Did you need to do anything to your trigger other than what was done during the tune -up?

Thanks,

Terry, I don't know if Mike even fools with the trigger when he lube tunes one, but the Rekord trigger on the B26 is SO smooth that there isn't any need too, mine breaks like the proverbial glass rod and I would guess its around 2lbs, very nice triggger on these guns, I love my B26 but the birds around here aren't very fond of it, lol.

Mike started replacing the front adjustment screw on the B-26 trigger made for a really nice trigger. I noticed a difference beyween my .22 no new front screw and my .177 with new front screw.

I have put about 2000 pellets through my MM B26  the trigger is getting smoother all of the time.  I just got through shooting it, and I noticed that it is much smoother than when I got it.  I don't believe that MM adjusted my trigger, but I am happy with it as is.
