Was browsing at PA.....
« on: April 21, 2009, 07:45:34 AM »
........looking at multi-pumpers. While looking at the Benjamin 392, I noticed a highlighted section that said to put one pump into the gun whether you're going to store it for a day or 2 years. Said that it helps to save the seals.(the wife would be so proud). Curious if anyone knows if this applies to all multi-pumpers, or just certain ones ??????.............Raoul

I think it applies to all pumpers.  Think of it as an aquarium.  Your tank is stronger when there is water in it than without it.

Raoul,,absolutely leave at one pump of air in the gun,I have a few older Sheridans from the late 60s & early 70s, all original, they shoot as hard as they did when they were brand new,I usually leave two-three pumps of air in them & every so often I shoot one or two pellets through them. :)

Thanks for the replies. Joe, that rifle at the bottom looks an awful lot like a 392. I'm considering getting one. Can you give me your thoughts on this rifle ? Build, Accuracy, Does it actually reach 685 fps ??? Thanks...........Raoul

Sweet Cuz! I took my old Crosman 1322 to a guy in Sunset Louisiana today for a re-build. When I arrived there was 4 old gentlemen standing out by the back of a truck.

I went limp. There were 4 old Benjy rifles dating back to the 30's and 4 old Benjy pistols. 2 from the mid forties and two from earlier. I fondled all of them and darn near bought one of the mid forty pistols.

Thanks for the info on the leaving a pump or two in the chamber.

Raoul,,the only difference is the the 392 being .22,,mine is a SILVER STREAK .20,the top rifle is a Benjamin Franklin 342(1969) the other older ones are Sheridan Blue Streak .20,,,They are much better than the newer models, that was the reason I bought the bottom Silver Streak, just to compare to the older guns, they are good but no way near the quality of the old ones,my Sheridan shoots over 700fps with eight pumps .20! :)

Mine are all loaded with 5 pumps and then stored under
lock and key.

When I see a squirrel or a pigeon, gun is almost ready to go.
All I need to do is add 5 more pumps.

Every rifle is tailored to its favorite pellet and fired
at 10 pumps.

I had a Benjamin 310 and before I put it away in the closet for 23 years, I put one pump in it. Took it out last month and it shot like it was brand new. Always keep at least one pump in it. I wish I had kept it. They don't make them like that anymore. I was soooo stupid.

I have the Benji 392 and mine chronographs at 675 fps with RWS Superdomes. It has fewer than 50 rounds through it, so it's not even broken in yet. Bought it last year because I always liked the Benjamins and Sheridans. It averages 510 fps with the 28 grain Eun Jin pellets. Plus you can mod it and get even more power. It's a good pumper and it likes the heavy pellets.
