sling for CFX
« on: May 14, 2009, 07:51:34 AM »
I don't remember where, but I saw where someone had mounted a sling to the butt and side of the forestock on a cfx. This looks good to me, but I was wondering which side it made sense to hook the sling to. Ill probably mock it up and see which feels right. Any input?

I threaded the front swivel into the left side stock screw hole.

I shoot right handed and use the sling up on my left bicep to steady in off hand.

Also, when I sling it over my right shoulder, it puts the scope behind my back where it's less likely to get wacked by anything I walk past.

So I guess you found a screw that matched the stock screw thread pattern, and would accept a sling mount. What was the source

Walmart.

The Uncle Mike's swivel set with both a machine and wood screw.

This was for a plastic stocked Whisper, but should be similar for the wood stocks.

Cut a piece of 3/16 tubing of some kind of metal. Put it on the machine screw then thread  the knurled nut up to it.  Then thread the machine screw into the stock  until the nut jams. Use an awl or small screw driver in the machine screw swivel hole to tighten it in.

I already had this sling mount kit, but unfortunately, on the cfx, the thread on the original stock screw and on the screw in the mounting kit are not the same.
