Big bore airgun or magnum rimfire for next purchase

Have this posted on a rimfire forum, so I thought i should even the opinions out.  Want to use it for pig hunting in a "don't scare the kids" area.  Looking at a 45 Korean, and want to see what you guys think.  Looking at a used 45, or a magnum rimfire.  Know the uses are different, but the prices are the same.  There would need to be a compound or crossbow on the rimfire side to use at the aforementioned place.  Pigs are "exotic", so there is no law stating that they can be taken with any of the above mentioned weapons. HMR or WMR will be 10 plus cents per round, and it seems that recently the 45 balls or bullets aren't that much.  Don't consider the tank as an added cost, because it will already be bought.

Can not tell you what to buy . But I have a 201's and a 909 . What I like about them compared to power burners is I can use them in more areas . The bullets do not travel for miles upon missing the mark . The are quitter and do to the limited travel of the bullet I consider them to be much safer in most places . Lots of people and animals as well as houses were there never use to be . And you only have to make or buy bullets not brase , primers and powder which seem to be getting harder to find . 909 .45 caliber is quieter than a .22 long rifle. .17 HMR is awfully weak for hogs. The bullet is tiny. The .45 is much bigger and heavier, therefore more punch and better penetration.  love my .22 mag but given no more powerful choice, I'd take my 909 hog hunting before the .22 mag.

I agree with Jeremy.  You want a bigger caliber bullet with pigs, although I am sure a .22WMR or .17HMR directly into the brain will do the job too, but that's the only shot placement you can really consider with the smaller caliber ones.  The .45cal would be more suited and would cause more damage to bring the pig down faster.

I just wanted to say that I wouldn't even think of using an HMR or WMR on a pig unless it was charging and thats all I had.  Want a big bore, but don't know how big to go, and what gun to get.

I would go with the .45 with the double reservoir tubes as it holds more air than the single tube model. The .45 is more powerful than the .50 from the factory and can be power tuned by LeRoy Roduner from  www dot bgmfairguns dot com, for about $250 to put out even more power.
Plus, there are a lot of good bullet molds in .45 caliber. Also, the .45 comes with iron sights, the .50 does not.
However, the choice is yours and they both should do the job.

I don't have anything against the .50 cal Dragon Slayer. In fact, I'd love to have one. Just can't afford one right now.
The 909 combo with the scope, case, and bipod is what I have and it's a great deal. Now if I can just find a shrouded barrel for it so it would be as quiet as my .177s I'd be in high cotton.
I've given serious thought to going through my local class 3 dealer and buying a can for it(the legal way), since it's threaded for a can.
