Quick Beeman RS1 question
« on: August 15, 2009, 03:49:20 PM »
Well after some research I decided to get a second air rifle. I chose a Beeman RS1. Unfortunately I hadnt stumbled across this site or I would have gotten the one with the two stage trigger. So now Im stuck with the direct sear trigger. However I found something that was odd, it doesnt have interchangable barrels. Its about a year old and the guy I bought it from said it didnt some with any other barrels. I searched but couldnt find any info on a single caliber RS1. So Im not quite sure, is it just an older model, or is the barrel welded on  :p?

Also how heavy is the trigger pull? Is it really that unbearable?

Thanks!

If your trigger guard is not rounded it's not adjustable model or if you look closely at the back of the trigger it has 2 holes for 1st & 2nd stage adjuster. Somebody posted a trigger swap with the adjustable one but require to modify the way the trigger assembly fits in the action. He figured if he sold his RS1 for half the price plus the price he paid for trigger assembly he could have bought the dual barrel RS2. The RS1 is a direct sear that's why it's 10#+ trigger pull. The adjustable one has mechanical advantage that can be tweaked to 2lbs pull.

There have been many different RSx packages offered by various retailers, and not all of them had dual calibers. I remember seeing the RS1 as a .177 only in Walmart well over a year ago, so it is very possible that it was sold with only one barrel.

I have never played with that version out of the box, but the dual caliber I did get to mess with had a set screw in the breech block that secured the base of the barrel. This allowed the switch to the other barrel. It's unlikely they welded the single caliber version in, and it might be threaded. It may also be press-fit but that would be odd.

PS: Welcome to GTA! Now that you have some guns, keep us posted. I have an RS2 Beeman SS1000 in .177, with the adjustable trigger, and it is a good and strong shooter. They are pretty well made as Chinese bargains go, and show up under all different brands, models, and combo variations.

You can fix your non-adjustabletrigger up some with some careful honing and polishing. Or, you could gift it out and we will help you spend your money on something else. That's what we do here!

Yeah I saw the thread where gopher put on a new trigger. It looks a little too complex for my skill level. Is there a how-to thread on how to hone the sear?

I will give it a try, I got a package with 6 tins of pellets, a pretty nice scope and the gun for only $75 so I figured I didnt have much to loose.

Also, is there an drop-in aftermarket trigger for the RS1?

Hi Ryman12 welcome aboard,

I was in the same boat as you. Got interested in air gunning bought the RS1 direct sear and then found the forum. Kind of backwards but Oh well.

I searched all over. There is nothing you can do to that model except shoot it or sell it. Even with the hard trigger pull it was very accurate.

I only changed the trigger assembly because I like to tinker. It was not a cost effective solution at all, but it was fun and satisfying.

The modification was tricky and complex as you said. It required a lot of thought. Since I bought my B-25 and B-26, I hardly shoot it any more.
