Expanded Library?

Gene suggested I run this suggestion up the flag pole, and see who salutes...

That the "Library" section be modded so that forum members can make their own contributions of stuff that's not already there. Things like more schematics, manufacturer's parts lists, spring dimensions, utility programs/calculators, etc.

Whaddyall think? I'd think it would be helpful to have all this kind of stuff located in one place.

I like the idea provided it is moderated.

Today I have been working on some improvements for our forum. Some of the coding were ideas and suggestions from many members in our forum.
I started out ok but a big thunder and lightning storm hit and I could not finish.... lol.. I could not keep connected long enough at a time to complete much.

I had inserted a new catagory in the forum line up named  "Library", and that was just a test, but Vince emailed me and come up with a reasonably good idea. "Expanded Library". That would be where we all could post the above mentioned things that Vince posted.

I do worry about links and copied materials from outside sources being posted without permission. I have been sending emails to the people and asking permission first before I add anything to our existing "Library" and "Mall".

As most of you know, i have been unders some watchfull eyes since this forum opened. Concerning these documents and links that I have posted in our Library and Mall.

I don't know if I could monitor this new catagory well enough by myself. It is very important that we do not step on anyone's toes at this point.

I do have a suggestion though. If someone like "Vince" would want to moderate this "Expanded Library", I could alter the code so he could review each post before he releases it to the "Expanded Library". All post with links and information would be reviewed first before it actually is posted.

What do you think about that

You're right about that - we don't wanna post copyrighted stuff without permission or something that might be technically inaccurate.

Charlie and myself have talked about the Expanded Library today. We both feel that it may be to risky to allow our members to post links from other sources. Not that it is not a great idea but it would just take one mistake to possible shut us down.

Let me say this, that if anyone see's an article on the web related to our air gun community, just pass it along to me and I will ask for the permission to use it. I will make an announcement in the forums of the new article's or infomation links. Then post it in our Library.

We do strive to develope a good relation with the community. Also we want to have as many sourses of information as posible for our members to refer to.

For the best interest of our forum, just send me the links or information and I will be glad to email the rightful owner and get there permision to post on our forum
