Gamo 850 pics
« on: February 27, 2007, 11:31:19 AM »
Here are a couple of pics of the 850. I must say that I think this is going to turn out to be a good shooter for me. I am a synthetic stock fan and I think the synthetic Gamo's in general are good looking rifles. It is light weight and easy to cock, although I'm not really sure why they call it a carbine. I mounted and loc-tited the BSA .22 special scope that came with it. I plan on replacing this scope but initially it appears to be adequate. At a distance of 15 feet I put some Gamo Pro Magnums through it to put the combo on paper. With the first three shots there was some dieseling. The 850 does recoil/vibrate quite a bit. Call me crazy but I like it, maybe its the Jar Head coming out in me. After the first few shots I realized I was really concentrating on my follow through. All-in-all not a bad choice to cut my springer teeth on. Only problem I have now is buying all the other goodies that I want now  :p  :p  :p  :p  :p  I need a scope, chrony,.................. and the wish list goes on. :)

Brother wanted a good simple air rifle, which that 850 certainly is. Did do a little trigger work, but it's basicallybox-stock.  Broken in, will do 810-820fps with normal weight (7.8gr.) pellets; he's pleased with it and the scope.

Did break a scope ring. Scope didn't shift or get out of wack, just "tink" while shooting...wildly off target....cause was the cheap ring snapping.

Great looking gun. Sometimes I find myself just staring at my Gamo's cus they look so pretty. But they are great guns. Good luck with yours.
