I purchased, 'cause it was a good deal, a BSA 6-24 X 40 IR scope for $49.00, including shipping. I was going to put this on a refurbished air hawk that I recently purchased but discovered that the scope is so long that it hits the rear sight. It is also very near to the breech opening. I plan to use a one piece high mount scope mount to attach the scope. I own another air hawk(bought new) and when I compared the two I noticed that the rear sight on the newer is mounted closer to the breech opening. This allows a little greater length for mounting the scope. I considered removing the rear sight( on the older gun) and moving the scope as far rearward as possible, good idea or not? Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I hope that this question is understood and makes sense.
