New here and new to airgun tuning
« on: November 08, 2009, 12:54:55 AM »
Hello to all,

I "grew up" shooting airguns and firearms. In my early 20's I got into Jeeps and motorcycles and got away from guns / hunting. Several weeks back I bought my son an airsoft gun and we spent some time shooting it in the back yard. This prompted me to dig out my old cummins tool chinese air rifle. I tried for a few days to get some kind of pattern out of that thing with no luck, but my interest in airguns was sparked. I looked online and couldn't believe the wealth of info I found on airguns. Wanting to get more into the sport, but not particularly liking my chinese rifle, and not having much $ to spend I ordered a refurb 1377c from pyramydair. It's much more accurate than the china gun or maybe it's just I'm more accurate with the 1377. I've had it for a couple of weeks now and I'm completely hooked! My wife thinks I've lost my mind, but I'm having a blast. So far I have deburred and polished the sear, made a sear spring guide / trigger stop, lighter sear spring, and delrin spacers for the sear and trigger. Here's a pic.

Unless you're using Photobucket...

As you did, in which case you need to copy and paste the HTML code, NOT the Email and IM code that you used, or the IMG code, which is what you use to post pics on the Yellow Forum.  The advantage to using Photobucket is that you can insert pics anywhere in your post, rather than just adding them to the end.

And while I'm on the subject, if you can size your pics to be 800 pixels wide, they will fill the page nicely, but not require scrolling back and forth to see the picture.  You can do this with your own image editing software, in Photobucket, or by following the link at the top of the page in the Mall.  Later.

Welcome, Matt.

What?!  No trigger shoe?  LOL.  Just wait until you see all the tweaking and tuning that can be done to a springer air rifle.  By the way, condolences and best wishes to the wife.

Big Welcome-from TX ,

Now i'm doing a little Mod's too my 1377 c like added the stock & scope mounts But not happy with the mounts ! they just rap around the Barrel and that moves every time it's cocked.
I cut rubber boots to put under the mounts & that did a little better ? But can still move some?

Regards
Glade to have you'll here - you can teach us allot it looks like, just  form what I see here?

Sometimes you can tighten the breech screw under the bolt and that'll help keep the crosman mounts from moving. It takes a .050 hex key (allen wrench). Be careful though it's easy to strip that little bugger out.  In my opinion a steel breech is the best way to mount a scope but it's easy to spend as much or more on one of those as you gave for the gun in the first place. Good luck!
