rust
« on: December 04, 2009, 05:35:55 AM »
Took the family to my dad's lakehouse for the long weekend.  Stepdaughter (8) packed all the airguns and ammo and safety stuff to go with.  While there, I picked up the Powermaster 66 (I think that's what I bought him a few years ago - to scare off gators) and notcied the rust taking over the barrel.  We shot the heck out of it for 3 days.  Babygirl started complaining about how hard it was to pump.  I fugured she was just getting sick of it, since she had no problems before.  I grabbed it and Man was it ever hard to pump, scraping noises and everything.  Hadn't taken a pumper apart before so I was afraid to try.  I know it needs some lube somewhere, but not sure how to go about it.  Also, what's the best way to fix up the rust without destroying the finish on the barrel anymore?

For rust, some gun oil and 0000 steel wool. Don't know about the pump action. Might just need oiling, which is likely a drop or two of 30W non-detergent.
