Questions about supertune or turbotune
« on: December 19, 2009, 05:41:54 AM »
I was wondering if Gene or any one for that matter might do super or turbo tunes on any of the walther falcon hunter rifles. I own one in a .22 cal and ive noticed it is starting to fire VERY rough. The effort it takes to cock the gun has almost double from when i first got it and the hinge where the barrel pivots is very squeky and rough. I have taken very good care of this gun and before it was even fired once i made sure to thoroughly clean the gun and even during break in i cleaned the gun. is it just me or do these rifles tend to not even live long enough for their break in period. Any way ive seen on previus posts how difficult it is to dissassemble this rifle and also how crude and poor of quality the parts are but i was just curios if this rifle would even be worth spending the 100 some dollars for a tune. Im also thinking of swapping the spring with a gas piston instead because i do alot of hunting with this gun and i get tired of spooking the hunt while im cocking this gun but i realize that this gun may not even be worth invest the money into considering  its history. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Maybe you have a broken spring?

I doubt it conisdering it still shoots just like it did 800 shots ago, it just doesnt perform smoothly at all. If the spring was damaged wouldnt I notice power loss and a large accuracy drop? I dont know a huge amount of info about these guns but i know how the work and what they look like from the inside. You might be right but im pretty sure the spring is still good. Either way im probly going to get it converted to a nitro piston because i hunt ALOT and i want to be able to keep my gun cocked for hours at a time should an oppurtunity arise for me to take down a target (mmmm squirel jerky). All i know is she still shoots through 1.5 inch peice of pressure treated wood in and out. I need help deciding whether or not i should even dump anymore money into this gun.

It usually is normal for spring gun for cocking to  smoothen up over time but for the opposite, there has to be a problem. Only way to find out is to open up the guts. I had a springer that I would not suspect to have a broken spring for it still keep accuracy and power. It broke on the second coil from the top hat. If that would have been on the spring guide side, it might have some problem on sear engagement.
