Scope upgrade
« on: December 19, 2009, 07:39:56 AM »
Anyone have any good sugestions as to what scope I should mount on my walther falcon hunter. The stock scope it came with has suprisingly lasted over 1000 shots with this rifle which completely contradicts what everyone has said about the scope. Unfortunately the scope has finaly bit the dust and no longer is capable of performing with any bit of accuracy. It doesnt hold zero at all and the scope itself makes a ratling noise when the rifle is fired which makes me believe something has undoubtedly come lose inside the scope. I want a scope i can do long range shots with but also shoot targets as close as 15 yrds. i realize this gun is a beast in every sense of the word and isnt a particularly good plinking gun as much as it is a hunting rifle. I've actually hunted game as large as wild turkey with this rifle and i hope it will last many more seasons. The last hunt i went on i had to use my guns poorly crafted sights but luckily I still have my eagle eye vision cus the other guys i was hunting with couldnt tell the difference between a turkey neck and and small tree at 45 yrds away and i dont blame em. Also im thinking about either filling my stock or replacing it all together with a wooden one and if anyone has any suggestions on that that would be great. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've had great luck with the Leapers scopes.  BSA also makes a good dependable scope.  Not quite sure how much magnification you're looking for or how much you want to spend, but opticsplanet.com has some great scope prices as doesn "natchez".

As for the synthetic stock on that rifle, I'm sure stuffing the stock with memory foam or some other substance would help quite a bit with the vibration.   I used memory foam on my synthetic stocked GAMO rifles and it helped enormously....
