4 Sale - Fresh Gene Tuned TF89 .22
« on: January 05, 2010, 04:20:41 AM »

I'm offering up for sale my latest purchase, a TF89 in .22 cal. Just got it back today from a Gene tune but have been thinking about my next purchase already. I have a ROCK solid .177 cal target or hunter in my Powerline 1000S. I have a VERY stout Benjamin SS that I have a .22 barrel on the way for that will probably be my main hunting AG. I recently purchased a Winchester 1000WS, tuned and glassed for the grandkids to shoot when they visit. It's an ambi stock so we can try lefty shooting also.

Anyway, I'm thinking of my wish list for 2010 and about ready to drop the hammer on a RWS 350 Mag or Evanix Blizzard. (Leaning heavy to the Blizzard. direction, the pull of the Dark Side is growing stronger.) I'm going to have to part with something to make room (and funds) for any new addition. So I'm offering this better than new TF89 up for sale. The only issues I see with this gun is (just noticed when I unboxed it) is a light scratch to the barrel just under the TF name. (tried to shoot picture but it didn't come out real well) And I did glass it first time out of the box and when I fired my first 10 rounds, the funky scope stop they supply disintegrated. I can supply the pieces but one mounting screw was actually stripped out. THIS is a powerful springer. They sell for $159 + s/h whichbrings them to around $175 shipped. Gene's Turbo Tune is an additional $149. I'll take $235 shipped to the lower 48 if anyone is interested. I accept PayPal but prefer a postal money order. (PayPal charges for funds handling) Drop me a pm or email if interested or you have any questions.

Thanks and Happy Shooting!!!!

Dave

Any chrony info available? Charlie provided a shot record after he tuned. One string before the tune and one after, does Gene do the same?

I did my home tune/lube before sending it to Gene. It was doing in the low 18fpe range after my tune. I was hoping for something in the 20+ range after Gene worked his magic. He did not put a printout of the shot string pre or post tune but he actually did better, he called me and we talked about it. It was during the Christmas holidays and he was REALLY swamped with work. I feel VERY privledged he had and took the time to call me to discuss it.

For some reason, he was not able to get it in the 20+fpe range for me. It happens, I know. Different guns tune differently. This one is putting out in the high 18 to low 19 range with CPHPs, which should be quite adequate for hunting. After my last post bump, I went ahead and glassed it. I did not like the results from the first scope so I returned it and exchanged for a Bushnell Sportsman 4-12X40AO. I let the locktite set up and plan on zeroing it tonight. After work, I'msetting up in our warehouse here. I'm impatient and can't wait till the weekend to have daylight to shoot. I've got a good usable 75 yard lane area here.

I plan ongetting chrony numbers onit again too after I put a few rounds through it. I think it will improve some after it settles in. My Winchester 1000WS went up from 14.5fpe to almost 16 after it settled in. So, I'm hoping for the same from the TF89. Will post the results of my new scope zeroingexcursion as soon as I can. But, to answer your question, it is putting out agood 18.5+fpe with CPHP 14.3gr rounds.
