Twins
« on: February 15, 2010, 10:49:55 AM »
All the talk of how tuff everyone’s local starling population has been lately got me thinking I might be a little under gunned for the yard sniper work I’ve been doing. So I’ve been looking for a quite .22 caliber to handle that task.

By keeping an eye on the local paper I found a Daisy Power Line 922 in the next town over. The guy had the box and all the original paper work and the listing said it was in like new condition. I headed over to check it out and found it to be in very new condition. I paid the man and brought the new gun home.

I took it down the basement and outfitted it with a fixed 4 power scope, and started the sight in process. The first shot had me a little concerned because it didn’t seem to shoot as hard as I thought it should. Now after spending the last few days shooting the RWS 350 and Discovery I thought maybe I was expecting to much from the little pumper. I kept shooting and it seemed to start getting a little more power with every shot. The guy did tell me it hadn’t been shot for the last 8 or 9 years. I picked up on Sunday and was doing a little more shooting with today and it seems to ok so far. I will try to find some time to run it through the chronograph this week.

Just to make sure everything was good to go I made a quick target and headed outside to place it under the feeders to check the accuracy at the range I expect to use it at. I’m home a little early today and that must have caught the birds by surprise because as I opened the door to head out I see two big Crows under the feeders. They take off as soon as I open the door, but they only flew across the street and landed again. I was thinking about trying the new gun out on a live target but they left before I could get her ready.

Anyway I now have twins. One in .177 and the other in .22 caliber. If anyone knows where I can get a parts list for the 922 please let me know. I want to order a new seal kit for it just to have it on hand should I need to rework the old new gun.

Great looking pumpers....  The  .177 just needs to grow up and be a .22.
