My RWS 350 Magnum Muzzle Brake by Vortek
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:11:11 PM »
Machined out of Delrin and cost $79.  The PG2 kit for the rifle was also $79.  Here is a picture of the muzzle brake.  It is approximately 6" long, with 5" of overlap with the barrel.  It is press fit, but I can't budge it at all.

I plan on putting a Leapers Accushot 3-9x44 30mm Tube Reticle Intensified Scope on her some time tomorrow, when I can run out to Cobra air guns and pick one up.  Of course, if you guys read my post on scope mount modifications, I take the Accushot one-piece medium mount and tap a larger 8x1.25 threaded hole where the existing smaller threaded hole for the set screw is.  I purchased a bunch of 8x1.25x20mm long set screws from Ace Hardware just for this purpose, being that the set screw that comes with the scope mounts are small and can't hold up to the recoil.  I actually took off one mount from a CFX and found that the smaller set screw was bent and creating a tear in the set screw hole in the receiver tube.  The larger set screw holds better, won't bend and most likely won't tear the receiver tube metal.

The Brake looks good. Thanks for taking the time to put up a picture. I have been thinking about doing something similar with my mounts, 'must be true that great minds think alike.

My RWS 34 Pro Compact with Timmy's custom cherry wood stockwith my muzzle brake. Machined out of aluminum and just cost me for materials. I do not make any custom shrouds or muzzle any longer but they are fun to make.

Yea that is why I stoped making them out of delrin. The set screw hole jus did not last.

I don't have a screw hole on my muzzle brake.  It is press fit and it is so tight, I can't even budge it.

Mostly for aesthetics but it also protects the crown and makes it easier to cock.

To cover up the unsightly dovetail above the muzzle where the hooded front sight mounted.
