Cracked scope lense after only 20 shots
« on: March 11, 2010, 12:39:18 PM »
I received a new Leapers 3-9X40 scope today and put it on my new Trail NP.  The scope was working great. I zeroed it then on the 20th shot I saw the lense crack after the rifle fired. Now I hear glass pieces rattling around inside the scope.

This is my first springer but it has a nitro piston and the firing cycle is quite smooth. The scope is a TS (true strength) model and I was hoping it would last a long time.

I have had scopes go bad over time with a shifting POI and not being able to keep zero but have never had a lense crack from  firing.

Has anyone experienced this before??

Haven't had a cracked glass but had a Leapers a few weeks ago that my TF89 jarred the objective lens loose. After cycling the AO you could hear it pop back into place and the sight cleared up again. After 2-3 more shots, it popped back out again. Leapers does have awesome customer service. It will cost you $8 postage to get a replacement directly from them. Or no postage if you can take it back to a local retailer.

Happy Shooting!!!!
