Scope sight picture

Was looking through a scoped gun today and noticed I could see the last six inches or so of the barrel down in the lower part of the field of vision. I don't have that on any of my scopes rifles and can only recall it on one other. That was an old Savage Sporter rimfire with a side mount and 3/4" scope. Since the gun was obviously being used until it was consigned for sale, I find this puzzling.

I used to could see it on my Whisper before I put the high mounts on it.
