Sorry. not about hunting coyotes with an AG. But it is about hunting coyotes. There has been alot of talk about how numerous these pests have become across the country. Well, my youngest son's father in law has hired a man at the farm just to shoot coyotes. He is paying a bounty for every carcuss. This fellow put a calf's carcass in a tree the other day and several hours later my son shot a male coyote at about 110 yards with a .270 . Even solidly hit, he ran before he dropped. Complete bullet pass through. And according to my son this animal had massive damage to lungs and heart. Weighed about 35 lbs. Male.
Reason for the hired shooter? The cows are dropping calves now and the coyotes are killing them before they can get to thier feet. Each calf is worth several hundred Dollars each.
I 'm planning to go this weekend and set up a hide. Perhaps I can get one. We have the calls etc. Also scout for turkeys. Season opens 3-20.
