It can be made as loud as you slap your index finger with your palm...that is a very hard slap.

How quiet is it stock, out of the box?  How much money does it take to make it as quiet as possible?

I wouldn't want to shoot it un-modified in a treestand. Measures can be taken, but out of the box it would have a little more snap than I would want. Unless you prefer nutters to venison...

I agree with the general attitude towards the 1377. I got 3 of them in every iteration possible. have my old (20 years, that is how good they are) top slider 1377, got a newer one a year ago and made it a survival rifle by putting the flat top conversion, big wooden forearm, stronger spring, adjustable trigger and a 14 inch .22 barrel with a long breach and a 3-9x40 (this one shoots CP 14.3 at 770 fps at 30 pumps! but i ude it at 12 always, getting 600 fps. the pumping is always easy, all the way to 30 if needed (no raccoons by me...), and then i just bough a new one that got a set of rb drips in walnut, is stock and looks beautiful. cant go wrong with that one.
