Yep last week I pushed the order button on my new Crosman RamQuest .177.. Been wanting this gun for a over ayear now. All I can say is it is one fantastic shooter out of the box. Did not have time to take pictures but I was so excited to make this post I fingered you all could wait till tomorrow when I have time to put some pics up. Out of the box she cocks as smooth as glass. Very nice cocking and shooting cycle to say the least. Ed and I pushed some lead across the chrony this evening late and was very impressed with the outcome. She was shooting in the 1050 to 1070 fps range with 7.9 gn Gamo pellets. Tomorrow Ed wants to put some H&N 8.63 gn through her on the chrony as well as some predictors. I am going to order some heavier pellets tonight. This thing needs to be powered down a bit. Maybe in the low 900 fps range with some 14 gn pellets. Should be a great .177 small game shooter.

Anyway I will post some pics tomorrow.

I recently got to shoot one of those and you are right,,,, it is one powerful rifle,,,, the only thing I really didn't like  though was that the shorter barrel didn't provide enough leverage during the cocking cycle and cocking it really irritated my bad rotator cuff joint.  I guess someone with a normal, uninjured shoulder wouldn't have a problem with it but it just doesn't work for me.  The power was incredible though, the newer shaped stock was a nice touch too.

For almost a 9 months now I have wanted to do a mod on my New Crosman Quest...:) There were some who said it could not be done but I am a curiouse bloke who will not except something unless it bites me in the back side..:) Finally I got a full day to myself and my toys...:) This project was very rewarding to say the least. I converted a Crosman Quest Springer to a RamQuest...:)... Yep I installed a gas piston in the Quest. There was allot of mods to do on the lathe and mill in order to make it worthy of the changover. Here are some pictures of the partts I worked on and parts I made.

Along with the conversion there was trigger work to do as well. The sear needed to be worked onas well. I used a GRT-III trigger blade for this mod to work.

I will be writing a review on some of the issues and performance of the New Crosman RamQuest .177 later.

Ya Jeff...:) guess it is a late April Fools hoax..:) I pretty much followed the design of the Trail NP and NPSS setup. I had already written down a bunch of ideas but just never had the time to impliment them. It was not a straight forward conversion, but she came out sweet. Later this week I will be setting up the scope and finding the pellets she likes best. Ed shot her quite a bit last night and today. Bob came over to make the final adjusments on the trigger for me. Here is Bob and Ed setting up the trigger while I was spinning out a muzzle brake..:)

And thanks Bob fortaking care ofthe finishing touches..:)

Yup we had to have some fun with the GTA family here but Gene really went to town on the RamQuest and she's one sweet shooter now. Bob did his magic on the trigger and there's me hanging with the two of them watching the magic happen in the shop, priceless.:) Ed

Before I forget...:) I was wondering what name to call the Quest after it was done...:) Ed came up with the name..:) " RamQuest". I thought it was pretty cool. Even have it embossed on the muzzle brake...:)

Well Jake it was a long over due project that I had been waiting to do when I felt comfortable with and taking the time needed to complete the mod. Ever since Pryamyd started putting the gas rams in the Gamo's I wanted to take the new Quest I had and convert it. By far this mod is much more than meets the eye. I just did not do like Pyramyd did and throw in a gas ram...:) Looking forward for the time needed to shoot it.
