350 claimed another scope.
« on: May 23, 2010, 01:41:03 PM »
Well went to the swamp to shoot a little and was hitting few inches left and was having trouble getting lined up behind the scope and getting a clear veiw. Adjusted it and hit dead center at 55 for 3 shot then off again. Then back on. Moved to 30 yards and was hitting about 4 in right. WTF elevation should change not the windage. Well got it adjust for a couple shot then Off again. Combine that with having to sit absolutly perfect or the scope would white wash out was getting to me so I came home pulled it off and took it back to Wally world.

Just hit the order button on the leapers 4-16x50ao with ir and all the bell and whistles. Starting to think I should have just left my original scope on it. I was shooting great with it but wanted illum reticle and more zoom. I think this next leapers will be just the ticket.

Almost forgot scope that went back was center point 4-16x40. FIrst scope was leapers 3-9 that came with it. The replacement one worked very good. The center point was the 2nd to get killed.

I've never had mine claim a scope. However, I'm giving it the opportunity by putting a Barska scope on it. :)  The last one I had on it was a Leapers 3 x 9 non AO  rubberized that worked great on it.

Why even use a scope on a 350 when you can hit 1.5" targets off hand at 100 yards with irons?  :emoticon:

I just wrote a gushing review of the Centerpoint 4-16x40(see Scope and Mount Reviews). At the end of the review the only question I had concerned the long term reliability. I hoping that because mine is on a 34 Panther that has been detuned to less than 16 FPE it will hold up for a while. The 350 is a 22-24 FPE rifle that kicks like a mule.

The center point lasted about 150-200 shots. Thank goodness wally world has a good return policy.

As for the fpe, im getting little over 19. I shoot JSB 10.2 and last time I ran it through the chrony it was shooting 920's. Are you shooting 22 to get the 22-24 fpe?

I looked at the airgun rated scopes on sharpshooters web site and yikes they are expensive. If I kill the next one I will look at the PG2 kit and try a tune to smooth it out a little more before replacing the scope again. Last thing will be to spend more on a scope than the gun itself but if thats what it takes then thats what will happen, eventually.

I have leapers 3-9x50AO on mine and working great I think you will like it, good value for price IMO:) I have a 34 that broke a wally world 4-16x40 I exchanged it for another one and so far about 1500 shots no problem, I think that there must be good and bad with those..just need to get a good one sort of trial and error I think.

dj,
My 350 is a .22. In stock form it was giving me 22.5 FPE. Then I velocity tuned it and it gave me 24. But it was a beast. Now it has the Vortek PG2 kit and is doing 21. It's still a beast, but it's a much more controlled beast. It currently has my Bushnell Banner 6-18x50 on it. We'll see how long it lasts. I've heard that the Hawke Airmax scopes are pretty tough. They are expensive, but not nearly as expensive as say a Bushnell Elite. Regarding the Centerpoint on my 34 Panther (detuned to 15.9 FPE), hopefully I got lucky and got one of the tough ones. By the way, I do like the PG2 kit but now Air Rifle Headquarters has a new tune kit for the 350. Hmmmm.
