I´ve also got the CFX-fewer
« on: July 16, 2007, 12:19:48 AM »
Hi there...

this is my first ever post on GTA, but i´ve been reading alot and i´ve had good use off that (exampel: using grey duct-filler to counterbalance the stock and reduce twang).
And after about 2500+ or so positive comments on the GTR-III trigger i´ve also ordered one and i´m looking forward to get it like a little kid before christmas (the stock trigger is a silly piece of C... i´ll give you that)
But i´ve got a few questions for you... here we go

Bipod??? how to???

do anyone have a good idea how to mount a harris bipod on the CFX? i´ve got one in spare from my 200-400 m fieldshooting (yes i admit it, i also do powderburners, and fieldtarget pistolshooting) i´ve thought about making a mountingbracket out off aluminium with a grove in the middle for the cockinglever and two claws, one on each side that graps the cockinglever  with some metric screws without going all the way over it, and som piston screws in the aluminiumbody to keep it from sliding, then mill the body to match the form of the harris mounting plate?
do anyone got bipods on their CFX? or better ideas? maybe even dravings/pictures? (maybe GeneSC? nice work by the way, you got metalskills rarely seen)

Buttplate?

do anyone have ideas/experience about mounting targetgrade buttplates to a hollowstock like the CFX? the reason i´m asking is that i can´t get used to that static rubberplate (that´s only one of the disadvatages about powderburners, you get all to familiar with all those settings and extras) i´ve thougt about making a piece of oak to match the inside of the stock and epoxyglue it in place and then paint it black? but i´ve was looking for something more elegant?

I would love any response from all you springerheads!!

lastly, yes i do hunt/do pestcontrol, i primarily hunt/control starling and doves... but the reason for the harris bipod is that my neighbour has a minkfarm (for making furs) and we sometimes have problems with some stupida.. animalrights activists that sets them free without any real knowledge about tame mink, the problem is that when you set tame mink free in the "wild" they are only controlled by pure bloodthirst, so they hunt and kill anything they see without eating it, that means that you got hunt them when you see them acording to danish laws (and don´t worry i wont shoot the activists, but it´s not a secret that i want to!)

Happy hunting/plinking

With kind regards

Hey Sakarias,

Like Bill said,  Welcome to the forum.  I'm sure one of the members will have an answer for you,, alot of very handy and talented air gunners hang here.

I'm very much looking forward to your future posts, would love to see some mink hunting pictures.  :)

I saw a wild mink only twice in my life, cute little buggers.

Hi there...

and thanks for the welcome.

Have you ever seen "Monty python and the quest for the holy grail"  those mink are about as cute as the Killer rabit, when you set tame farmbred mink loose in the wild.

By the way, my current setup is as following:

CFX .177 with damped stock (grey duct-filler) to reduce the twang´ines
and a Leapers 4-16X56 mil-dot luminated reticle
and i use gamo TS-10 pellets not so heavy but they group exceptionel well over 30 yards +, and retaining lots of point of impact power, precise enough for headshots and enough penetration for heartshots.

the Leapers scope is absolutely the best scope i have ever laid my hands on, and the luminated reticle is giving you 3 extra hours of hunting time, plus that the parralax-adjustment goes all the way down to 10 yards, great for that pesky starling sitting just above your head

I just can´t wait for that trigger to get here...

Happy hunting

I also like the Leapers scopes,,, have quite a few of em gracing my air rifles.  I agree, that illuminated reticle can certainly be handy at time :)

I have a 4x16x50 illuminated reticle sitting on top of my RWS 350 Magnum .22 and absolutely love it.

Your setup sound awesome.  And as for the trigger,,,, once you get it you'll be amazed.  It really does transform your rifle !!

Hi again.

i´ve also had a 4-16X50 but i found it to be to dark when zoomed in, so it´s sitting on a 7,62mm centerfire i´m using for fieldtarget at 400 m.

and the good thing with 16 times zoom is you know what you´re aiming at, the bad is however you´re really not sure about hitting it, it´s all just a red blur  :emoticon:
