Hey JT, I am not familiar with that rifle but someone should ring in on this for you. You might be able to remove the rear sight and get away with using a scope with the front sight still in place. If the rear sight is like the sight's on other Gamo's you should be able to remove it buy turning the elevation screw counter clock-wise until it comes off. As far as the threaded post that it is attached to,...maybe someone else can tell you how to remove it without a hacksaw :o .

It looks like the rear sight...

...is Gamo's "micrometric". Unscrew and remove the elevation adjuster, flip the sight forward, and remove the single screw holding it onto the action.

From the pictures I can't tell anything about the front sight, but on every other Gamo rifle I've seen, the front sight is an insert that can be removed by slipping it sideways.

Thanks for the replies! rear might work like that but the front seens to be part of the barrel? looks like the end of the barrel has some sort of shroud at the end with the sight part of that.  Maybe if I can get the shroud off I can manufacture a "mussle break" of some sorts to replace it?

Anyone know if the front can come off?

If the front is like most Gamo's, the top will slide to the side, it's held in place by a dovetail.

Hi Mike,

nope, not dovetail. It is solid. Rear seems easy enough. Any ideas about the front?

thanks

I believe you could leave the front sight in place, as it would not hinder the scopes optics. Just my 2c 8)

Ahhhh....cosmetics. Perhaps you should contact Gamo directly. They might be able to help you out.

JT, you will be better off to leave the front, unless you make a brake. You can remove the stock and tap it off with a block of wood and a hammer, but the end of the barrel is stepped down and wouldn't look right unless covered.

Hi Mike, thanks, so it would come off with some tapping?

Yes a brake was the idea.. some alu. I have read some info about the brakes. It would appear that it is not always straight forward.. somtimes a brake can influence accuracy negatively. What should I look out for?

...you might find a couple of setscrews. You'll find out when you get there...

If you want a brake on there, it's going to have to be a tru custom-built one.  The brake body wall will have to be pretty skinny, relatively speaking, so it will match up with the diameter of the barrel and the groove cut in the stock.  It's possible, of course, but if it was my rifle, I'd leave the front sight on and just remove the rear one.
