I took my new 78D and cut the barrel down to make a carbine out of, but it didnt work.

I have tried several times to get a group , also cut off a little more and recrown but still couldnt get a good group. tonight as last night it was shooting off the target , way off, like a foot and a half off, low.  tried a brand new leapers 4x32ao full size , tonight a BSA312x40 ao, and still ran out of adjustments.
Has any one seen a barrel this bad before.
Ive posted a want on the classified for one, looking for a D model barrel or a AR2078 in 22 cal. If anyone has one I can buy , with out buying the whole gun, it would be appriciated.
Xisicousa wants to sell me a gun, standard 78, guess they dont know it wouldn't fit.
TIA

What method did you use to do the recrowning?  With a bore that is that far off center I think that it will take a bit of lathe work to get her shooting accurately. If you want to risk the shipping cost you could send it to me and I will take a crack at it.
