Spring is here at last
« on: September 01, 2007, 05:45:35 PM »
Well I wanted to get out for my first Spring hunt so I did and as normal Andy tagged along for the fun and fun it was, We hunted for about seven hours not quite one of our longest but it was enough to kick the new season of.
The night started of instantly really we parked the car  geared up and started the long walk but only got about thirty meters before I spotted a threesome of Peacocks & Peahens bout 20 to 25 meters up in a couple of gum trees we took the two Peahens first one each then we both tag teamed the Peacock with a double shot and we both hit him right in the brain box it was so well timed both shots hit it at exactly the same time & I have never seen a Peacock fall as quick and die on the spot as this one it didn't even flap around on the ground like they normally do what a way to start the night.
Over all that night we took quite a few Possums as well we lost count at 16 as we were to busy shooting to worry about counting anymore, Now in some of these photos there are a lot of young and we also dispose of these as quickly as possible normally with a shot to the head I have included some of these pictures just so you can get a look at them  but only the live ones as the others my offend some people.
The weapons of choice for the night was Andy with his silver Shadow SK1 shooting Crow Mags & for me well i decided to give my new Crosman Quest .177 a try with the Crow Mags & all I can say is I want another one it has ample power for dropping Possums and shoots really well also feels good to hold me likes this gun a lot and for the price it cost I cant complain only thing I had to do was add a decent scope and I was set and this gun was blasting them right out of the trees with one shot kills for most of the night so for a cheap gun it had great performance & I give this gun the thumbs up.

Awsome hunt! As always a great account of your hunt and great pics.

I like my Quest too, light weight, easy to cock, good hunting accuracy. I have downed a number of pest birds with mine.
