2x6,B-3,project
« on: September 27, 2007, 09:42:43 AM »
Some of you may remember awhile back, I attempted to make a stock. Well I ended up putting it on my B-3 and decided to paint it, so since I'm painting anyway, why not add alittle here and there and see what happens.I put a buttpad on, added some wood to the grip area and forearm.  It still needs a couple more coats of paint, but it fits like a glove. The first pics are what it looked like, should have left it alone, but then it wouldn't look as it does now, still a work in progress, hehe.

Well I screwed up, I sanded that coat of stain lightly, put on another color, sanded and put on a coat of shelac with green tint, looked real nice on the sample. Didn't want to strip completly so I painted. It is made out of a yellow pine 2x6, nothin fancy.

with my design. I had a friend of mine come over the other day to give me a hand with something. I showed him my rifles and he fell in love with this 1, he said the cheek well was alittle too far foward for him, but he liked it. I loaded it up and handed it back to him, told him to line up with the stock and give it a go, He has not fired a pellet gun since we were kids and has never fired a springer. I had 3 paint balls set at 25yrds, his first shot splattered paint, the 2nd knocked it off and the 3rd he got the golf tee. He said he has never fired any rifle that is this easy to point, shoot and hit what your aiming at.Now he wants me to make him stocks for 2 of his rifles and he stopped by yesterday with another guy, he wants 3. Looks like I'm fixin to be real busy, hehe.

,,,, I don't think that it needed the butt pad though. But to each their own,,,,. You have a definate talent for creating nice lines with a balanced look. You started out with a 2x6 and finished with a gun stock,,, I would start out with a 2x6 and finish with a 2x6.

Thanks Doc, this was actually my 1st stock. As for the pad, well it slid alittle without it, but I later realized that a 1/4" of bedliner paint would have worked. Oh well I'll make another, hehe.
