Hi guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the board. I purchased a Gamo Elite without really knowing what I was getting into. I am pretty happy with it though. This is my first air rifle in at least 25 years. I actually bought the rifle to shoot squirrels off of my roof, they wake me up in the morning running back and forth to a pecan tree in my neighbors yard. Truth of the matter is I have had so much fun shooting targets and such that I haven't been paying them much attention. I already ordered my GRT-III trigger and hope this will help me shoot a little better. What should a expect as far as break in goes? I have about 350 pellets in it so far and it has a pretty good twang and recoil to it. Will that get better or worse? how about accuracy? Seems like I have read that it should get better around the 500-1000 pellet mark? Look forward to learning from you guys! Thanks for any input!

Anthony

Welcome to the GTA, Anthony! It's a GREAT PLACE TO BE!

Most everyone here is more qualified than me to give you advice on the "break-in" period and number of pellets, and such, and they'll likely be chiming in soon. One thing I can say though, is that you'll be amazed and astounded by the improvement after you install the GRTIII trigger (just remember to make sure the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction for the first post-installation shot-- the smoothness may take you by surprise ;~)

Remember, if you do down any critters, post a report and pics over on the Hunting Gate.

Again, welcome.

Bryan

WELCOME to the GTA FORUMS, Anthony !

You have found a GREAT PLACE to BE !

That Gamo Elite is a beautiful air rifle, and they usually require 1000 - 2000 pellets to break in, each air rifle takes its own time.

It sounds likethe springmay may be a little dry, if so a "LUBE TUNE"may be needed. There are post on this procedure, and can be found on the GTA Library, and in the posts. You can find them by doing a SEARCH, found to the far left, just below the LIBRARY prompt. And if you do not feel that you want to do this yourself, Charlie the Tuna, maker of the GREAT GRT-III trigger, performs magic on Air Rifles !!!!

Hope you get them squirrels, remember we love hunting stories and photos of your trophies, over in the HUNTING GATE !!!

Welcome ,

Welcome Anthony. Bill is right about the break-in time. The twang and recoil should get better over time as well as accuracy. Make sure to try different pellets to find out which brand your rifle likes the best. Good luck.
