A broken spring

with my s1k feels different to cock, and there is a thunk instead of twang when you shoot it.  The cocking feels rougher, grittier.  You would notice a change in velocity as well as recoil and sound.

Sometimes you can feel it easily, but other times it's not so obvious. Oddly enough, you can't always depend on a significant drop in velocity to tell you, either.

Take a good look through the cocking slot. If any of the coils are not evenly spaced, you've definitely have a problem. Unfortunately even if it looks OK through the cocking slot, it's still possible that there's a problem you can't see from there.

Ultimately, there's no substitute for taking it out and looking at it.

I super glued and put a 6/32 mch screw into the ear and refassend it so far I've put over 100 rds through the cat it seems ok when I had it appart I checkes for ware and everthing looked fine anyway I cleaned the chamber as well as the spring and re lubed everting and reassembled (no lube into the chamber ) it's putting one hole with 10 or 12 rounds in it and feels nice and smooth both when cocking and fireing it dosn't seem to twang anymore but you can still feel the recoil , i've got a email into Gamo to see what they want for a new barrel . the way it's shooting I kind of hate to change the barrel.
