Thank you all very much for the very kind advice and information - I KNOW that I have found a friendly place that I'll be very happy to come back to visit often !
I'm planning on getting my orders together soon - I've been on the fence about whether to get the CFX in .22 or in .177 (though I know the ultimate answer is to just get both !)
I can't afford to buy both right now, so it is a matter of which to enjoy first..  I've seen the .22 for sale at pyramydair and at airgundepot, but not many other places whereas
the .177 version is available practically everywhere..I like to support the "little guy" when I can - provided the prices are competitive, I don't mind spending  an extra $10 or $20
if it helps out a retailer who can provide a more personalized service.   I'll plan on getting the scoep and mounts from the recommended supplier, too.

I'll also plan on getting the highly recommended trigger upgrade for this rifle, though I'll have to use the rifle for awhile - I can imagine the "new toy" effect is going to be pretty strong with this airgun !

Hi Shadow -

You mentioned that your CFX .22 was making it into the 700s for muzzle velocity - is this after you have had it tuned, or is it "stock", or ??
Some folks seem to be getting these rifles performing at or above 15 fpe in .22 - I don't know if my luck would be as good.   I know that the
.22 has some significant momentum advantages, but I am also hoping to improve upon the trajectory of my tired 580-600 fps .177 Daisy.
If I can get a .22 that would, say keep 14 grn supers at or above 700 fps I might take that over a .177 CFX, though either will be
a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR improvement over what I've been battling squirrels with presently..

Well, I went ahead and 'squeezed the trigger' on an order with pyramyd air for a CFX in .177 caliber and a variety of pellets, including an RWS sampler pack as well as some JSB Diablo Exacts, Predators, and Crow Magnums.
I was very tempted to go for a .22 caliber, but I think that the .177 will do what I need it to do.
I'll place an order for a Leapers scope soon, though I might wait until the rifle comes in first.   Now the anxious waiting period begins...

Welcome, Ol' Yank! I have both caliber CFXs.  Use the .177 for plinking and target playing, use the .22 for dispatching nut buzzards and other pests.  My .22 is a "smoother" shooter than my .177, but that is probably coincidence.  I'm getting low 700s with the .22 with RWS Superdomes, high 600s with other pellets.

Get CDT's trigger ASAP.  Do yourself a favor and don't get too used to the stock "slogging through molasses" trigger the CFX is born with, seriously.

I was ready to sell both my CFXs, until someone begged me to try the gold trigger first.

Thanks very much for the warm welcome !

I DO plan to get the trigger upgrade for this rifle - I figured that I'd at least try it out with some pellets first to make sure that the rifle is at least functioning properly before trying to upgrade it, just in the slim chance that it has a quality problem.
I was about to get the .22 because I don't plan to shoot any competition matches, and the .22 might be a bit more forgiving of less than spot-on shooting of the raiding squirrels on my property, but the siren song of flatter trajectory, cheaper pellets,
and that I don't expect to hunt larger critters like woodchucks, etc. with it made me think the .177 would fit my needs, especially with the better pellets that I have learned about reading various threads in this website.   The people who have the
CFX .22s like your are very happy with them, and rightly so !  With my luck, I was also slightly fearful that I might get one that had issues and was shooting pellets at much lower velocities, which seems to have afflicted a number of the .22 models
I read about, but much less so the .177s !    Don't get rid of that CFX .22 of yours - I might want to buy it ! :emoticon:

My CFX.22 is still boxstock no tune yet. I want to give her a season of hunting then take her down for a tune and a Golden trigger. :) Ed
