Gamo Hunter Extreme

I am fairly new to this forum.I am a newbe to the springer sport.Ive had a passion for pellet rifles since i could walk, just never shot a springer until my Hunter Extreme arrived.I replaced the stock trigger w/ Bobs trigger.Im glad i didnt throw the gun in the lake before i tried this trigger.Bob if your reading this you have my vote for the Nobel Peace Prize.I am now at peace w/ myself for not doing my homework first.I have only shot about 200 pellets out of it.The weather hasnt cooperated.I know its a hold sensitive gun.I have gotten better groups free handing it compared to a rest.I dont see hardly anyone talking about this magnificent piece. If any of you do have one and shoot it enough, tried other pellets, what pellets work best for you? What works best for you?How tight are your groups? If this is suppose to be a hunting rifle shouldnt it be shooting the daylights out of the center piece?I read all the time on here someone getting their gun tuned and so i wanted mine tuned and Bob told me he wouldnt tune a Hunter Extreme. Why cant you tune one?Ive only shot two different pellets out of it and i might hit the center and then it spits them where ever.Is it me?When i very first shot it i was useing the PBA pellets.I shot thirty of those pellets. Then i read not to shoot those pellets.Do you think i hurt the spring?Maybe im rushing something that takes time. All my rifles i can have them shooting right on in no time.Do i need more patients w/ this new sport or did i get a fowel gun.Oh ya it was like the third or fourth shot ever w/ this gun and i was shooting the PBA pellets @ 25 yard and the pellet stuck in the cardboard. It didnt pass through it.The cardboard was only an eighth inch thick.Whats up w/ that?It only happened once.I dont expect anyone to answere all my questions but if everyone who has one maybe send me some info.My main concern is what pellets work best for you. Thanks for reading and your time.Good hunting and happy shooting.

Hello and Welcome to GTA

You want to use the heaviest pellets you can findand slow the velocity down like
BEEMAN .177 Kodiak Extra Heavy 10.6
CROSMAN .177 Premier Ultra Magnum 10.5
You will gain ft/lbs and that is what you want when hunting.

Light pellets + High Velocity = No Accuracy
Velocity vs. Performance (accuracy)

The rifle is sold buy Gamo but not made in Spain it is made in England so most of what
you read about Gamo will not apply

Good Luck With Your New Shooter

Each Air Gun should have a purposes it is not all about velocity or power its
about walking away after a day of shooting,Smiling looking down and saying

good morning robert!
welcome to the GTA forum family, this a great place to be.....i also own the EXTREME, it is a beautifull rifle, with tremendous power..as dave stated it is not your typical gamo, this is made by BSA, so QC went into to this baby,it would have been a great .25  rifle at least .22...you might want to take daves advice and use the heavier pellets stay away from the raptors they are joke for this rifle....CDT suggest to use .177 pellets with max weight of 9 grains...i am not sure if it is the same for a magnum powered rifle....i will request that info..CDT also told me the same about tunning that rifle, coming from him i have no reason to question why.......good luck!

Welcome Robert and as Dave said go with something with alittle more lead to slow her down. I own the 1250.22  which is the same and you'll want to try different type pellet's to find what she like's to shoot, don't use the PBA pellet's, their to light and can possably damage the internal's of your shooter. As far as tuning go's, the 1250 isn't like the other Gamo's as far as mainspring, guide etc. Your best bet is to give her a proper lube tune with a DATUNA trigger and shoot her to season the barrel. Just give yourself time to get to know her and find out how she like's to be held, every airgun is different on pellet selection and hold. Feel free to ask the Forum question's, were all here to help eachother. :) Ed

WElcome Robert,,,,, like the others have said,,, try some heavier pellets and you should see improved accuracy. Like Ed I also own the 1250 in .22 caliber, amazing gun, but like all other guns mine has a preference for certain pellets. Try an assortment of pellets and find the most accurate for your rifle.

Take some time to get used to the gun and in no time you'll be putting some serious holes in whatever it is you're aiming at.  Best of luck with the rifle....
