CFX wood stocks anyone make them?
« on: April 11, 2008, 03:13:02 AM »
I have a CFX which if I decide to keep it could use a new stock. Does any one make wood stock replacements? If not I guess I could just get a new "plastic" one from Gamo.

Are you looking for the same style just in wood, or something completely different? I sold my CFX a little while ago, but I think I could get it back, long enough to measure the inletting. It would be atleast 6months before I could start it. Something like this would look good on a CFX. 8)

Interesting. I like the thumbhole and more of a traditional cheek rest. I like wood and I just feel that the wood is a quieter alternative to the plastic or composite although I don't dislike the composite look.

Splash,

Man, you really have the talent. Have you ever done anything really off-the-wall in regards to material? I mean, have you ever worked with composites or even something like Corian?

Thanks Ron, and no I haven't tried any composites. I was an electrician for 18yrs, before I injured my back, just over 2 years ago. :0  I started playing around with some wood, just to pass the day. The cheek well and hook really lock the gun in place and forces a consistent hold.  Here's 2 pistola's I did for our founding members, I should have used better wood tho.

Mike,
That is some really nice work!!!!  Mabe sometime in the future, I will have you make one for my CFX.  I really liked the stock you made for the rifle with the thumb hole, that was really nice.

Thanks Kent, I'm hoping that one day I'll figure out what I'm trying to do. It's been hard for me to find some good wood locally, so I'm starting to do a plywood laminate, in the same style.
Gary thanks, I was hoping you would let me borrow it for a couple days, after I get everything set up.

John:
I think there is a wood stocked version of the Gamo CFX. I believe it is, or was called the CFX Royal and Gene Curtis, may have one.
You might ask where Gene got his.
