My new pellet box for home shooting
« on: April 07, 2008, 02:22:55 AM »
I mostly shoot indoors (actually half in and half out) at our terrace, opening the sliding doors and leaning my targets against terrace barriers.
I used to tape my target paper on some old, used, hard covered agendas which were supported by an old, metal desktop calendar base.
Last weekend I decided to build a pellet trap for myself. I collected some chipboards and some wood.  used the woods for back and two sides of the box. Top and bottom are from chipboards.
After assembling all wooden parts  I placed an iron metal at the back and screwed it there. I drilled the top for the ropes to be used as handle. I cut a place for the paper clips.
I painted the box with a spray paint. Then I got through the ropes for handle and mounted the clips for attaching my target paper.
I put a lot of old newspapers, foam boards etc. and sighted my Webley Longbow at 7 meters.
Yes I know it is not a big invent or a big job, but I was very happy when I finished and started using it.

I ended up taking an old plastic suitcase (ancient btw), and put 2 pieces of carpet in it, folded twice in half for a total of 8 layers, plus a laminated board...Target tape well to it, and it is very quiet...took all of 10 minutes and it's got a handle. lol....I like your trap, very nice...I would like to post some pics of my shooting rest I slapped together but don't know how yet...is there a sticky somewhere?  thanks...

A suggestion for good "stuffing" for a pellet trap like this,  plastic wrap like what is used to wrap pallets and boxes for shipping.  Does a very good job at stopping pellets and doesn't make confetti mess of paper or styrofoam.

That's a great suggestion, Nick. I end up disposing of that plastic when we get a pallet of printer paper in. Now I know how to properly "recycle" it.

By the way, WELCOME TO THE GTA!!! It's a great place to learn, teach, and especially a great place to be.
