Air force condor/Scuba tank questions
« on: April 06, 2008, 03:29:02 AM »
Hello everyone. New guy here. A friend and myself just bought two spankin brand new Air force Condors and I'm doing some homework to find the best scuba tank or welding shop tank out there. Weight is not a concern as this will be mounted in the back of my truck. I would like the maximum number of fills from the tank. So far I've found a 106 cu. ft. aluminum hoop wrap tank ($416.00) that fills to 4350 psi. I know i'm at the very beginning of my learning process but want to spend my money in the most efficient manner. That's why i'm thinking about talking to a welding supply store about renting a cylinder from them. Anyone out here do this?  Any and all help/advice is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Generally welding shops only carry o2 or other gases, never saw one that did compressed air(I was a welder for 25 years)?Another thing to consider is there a shop around(scuba)that fills to 4350,most of your smaller mom & pop shops around here only go to 3000...

Thanks for the heads up Barry. Right now i'm not even sure we have a source (dive shop) in our town. I will be sure to ask about the 3000 psi max. No sense in buying more tank than they can put in it i guess.

If no dive shops close enough, nitrogen is an alternative if ya have a welding supply close, just have to b extra carful when filling as nitrogen tanks are usually around 6k?Dave any input?

I do have some input :-).  Since I'm lazy, and it feels like I've done this several times in the last few weeks, here's a link to a post I did on the subject on the Talon forum: http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2331  Hopefully, this will answer any questions you might have, or even better, trigger some questions you didn't even know you had.  One thing I didn't discuss in the post was sources.  Welding supply houses MIGHT have the high pressure cylinders, but you'd be more likely finding them at an industrial gas supplier.  Linde and Airco are a couple I believe are national.  Oxarc, where I get mine, is a Central/Eastern Washington only source.  BTW, lots of good info on that site about these rifles.

Barry, sorry I never got back to you, been crazy busy lately.  No joy on the stocks, sent both with the rifle.  Later.

Dave

I think you touched on your filling station about 6 months back Dave. Now that is a nice set up and economical to boot. Heck I wonder how long two tanks that size hooked together would last?..:)

Thanks for sharing Dave
