Found a use for the .177 lead free Crosman Silver Eagles 4.9g HPs & 5.1 Wads

My pistols love them in fact any low power gun should.
Less than 1/2 the price of PBA's
I've noticed very little deterioration in accuracy when applied to my lower volume guns and a 25 to 30% increase in FPS.
Makes my 400 FPS guns fun out to 20-25 yds.
Not so good for the 1000 FPS rated guns but then neither are the tumbling PBA's.
I've seen paper target holes showing a complete profile of the pellet instead of just a small hole...not good.

Thanks Dank  There hasn't been any reviews on those Crosman light weight lead free pellets that I know of here. I think I may try some of them in my Crosman 2300s. Guess I should wait until a warm spring day next year though :0

I thought about ordering some to use in my Crosman 1377, as well as the $25.00 Chinee break barrel pistol I ordered from Compasseco. I may try it in my Crosman 2100 Classic (which I've owned since is was15, in 1985), and my son's Crosman 73.
Right now, I'm pretty happy with Crosman Premier Hollowpoints in my Weihrauch HW95

I actually chrony-ed them in my Chinese Sp2 at 400+. Can't remember the exact #'s.
I do remember seeing 495 fps from my Cumimns Pistol though.
I also had a ball chrony-ing them coming from my Gamo Hunter Pro, and Shadow, my Winchester 1000x, Cross Phantom and QB36-2 at near and sometimes over 1100 fps.
Only for a short while though. Had to give the neighbors a break. (noisy)
Wish they'd make them in .22

got a tin of those when shopping at DICK'S.

i'll have to try them out in my 1377 (@ the advertised 600fps) & my storm xt rifle (@ the advertised 1000fps) - both love the gamo hunters @ 8.3gr.

Hey Gino welcome to GTA. Just some friendly advice. Be careful shooting those light weight pellets in your Storm XT rifle. Springers don't like those light pellets as the spring takes a pounding. If your Storm loves 8.3gr pellets then I would stick with em or other pellets around the same weight. Your 1377 is ok to shoot em up or even a PCP but I would think twice about using them in any spring gun. Just a thought.

and for the advice - you can tell i'm new to this.

i seem to suffer from information overload - i've been reading anything/everything i can about airguns, pellet weight vs accuracy, california & lead pellets, etc...i did read somewhere that light pellets are springer killers (heavy ones too)  

when out shopping, i make sure i pass through the pellet section of whatever store i'm in. the local stores carry the crosman pellets but i happen to be upstate and stopped by DICK's sports - they had gammo's & these non-lead pellets.

EDIT: just for kicks, i tried a few of these in the springer - BANG! sounded like my .22lr henry golden boy - needless to say, i'm not putting them back in the springer again.

BTW -
1st pellet i pulled out was mal-formed, only 1/2 the skirt was present. i stuck it in the springer breech anyways & it slid right out of the barrel
2nd pellet was also mal-formed; the skirt was not uniform - it was thick/thin at certain parts of its circumference
3rd pellet had artifacts inside the skirt

this tin must have been one of those 'monday' tins off the production line :p

I too have noticed some poor quality control issues with the cross Silver Eagles. Not very Crosman like!

I tried those in my Gamo Pt-80 and Marksman 2004 (same as Beeman p17) and in both guns they would sometimes get stuck about 1/4 - 1/2 down the barrel. To get them unstuck required a rod or firing the pistol 4 -5 times.

Update;
Q.C. has become so bad I won't buy them anymore for anything.
Daisy had a domed 5.9g lead free that had the best QC and accuracy of all the lead free's but I can't find them anymore.
I wrote to Daisy and all they replied was "we have the lead free wads in stock"
Every shot I take is important to me so I'll stick with  ,RWS Hobbys and Diabolos,  Beeman Lasers and Silver Bears thanks.
I've grown to like the 6.5g  Lasers with their semi dome shape over the wads for my low - lower powered guns.
