Second nutter
« on: May 25, 2008, 05:32:34 AM »
This little guy is starting to get to me. I've been after him for 2 weeks now and he always seems to get the upper hand. I've finally given up on just trying to get him by pure chance. I usually just wait until I see him and then try to carefully open the door and get a shot off. He runs before I even get the door open. Now I've upped my game plan do sitting and waiting at a window. I'm planning to bait him out in to the open, but what should I use? I was thinking of just peanut butter with dog treats, but I don't know if it will work. This squirrel has pushed me far enough. He tried making a hole in to my house :( I have to get him some how. Any ideas?

Here's the pics (Finally lol)

Shot in the eye from about 20 yards.

Here's my Storm sitting proud next to it's second tree rat.

My exam of the body, well, mostly the head really surprised me. The Gamo Tomahawk I used did A LOT of damage. This guy didn't even do the common "dance" as he died. He was perched on a piece of wood and when the shot hit he just fell over on to the ground completely motionless. These Tomahawks are quickly becoming my favorite pellet.

Well Daniel,

The squirrels around my house will eat anything, old donuts, bread, rolls, crackers, and even old cat food !

If I had a squirrel that is eating at my house, I would sit outside, and when he made his move, take him OUT !

They chewed up some rodent proof wiring in my attic a few years ago, and it took me three days to evict 7 fury rodents, and after I closed up the small hole behind my gutters with galvanized steel sheeting, another one stopped by to see if he could move in, he had a severe case of lead poisoning shortly after I found out where the tink-tink-tink was coming from. :)

So Daniel, go GET ER DONE !!!!!

Hey Daniel,Tim here! They LOVE corn on the cob!! They constantly haul off whole ears I put out for the deer in my yard. Wall Mart here sells "corn cobs" made just for Squirrels,, just a thought. Just make shure you pin it down somehow, those little jerks will take it to thier nest & kick back & eat it while they watch cable!!LOL!! Good luck Bud,, Just waiting on your pic.!! Tim.

He's smarter than I thought. He didn't take my bait of peanut butter with dog treats. Tomorrow I'm going to set myself up with some corn. If I don't get him by tomorrow, I'm going to buy a squirrel call from Bass Pro Shops and see if it helps me at all.

don't waste your money on the squirrel call....i bought one and it really doesn't have much effect....my neighbors got tired of hearing the thing so put it up.  i put corn out for several days and let them get comfortable coming up and eating.....then snipe them!!

The sling is just a guitar strap. Use one of the screws from the buttplate to hold it on the rear and then slip the other end over the barrel. The end that goes over the barrel might need to be opened up a little bit more. The straps should have pre-cut holes on each end so it's not a hard install. The buttplate wont sit perfectly flat against the gun anymore though, unless you do a little modifying. File off some of the rubber, some wood on the stock, etc. and it will sit just fine. I just thinned out the leather on the strap and filed some rubber off. Worked great. The black cover on the stock is an ammo holder. It's meant for shotgun shells, but I've made it work with pellets.

Tomahawks....
Nice hunt......  Glad the Gamo Tomahawks are working for someone.  I have terrible consistancy with them in all of my air rifles.....I get about 1" Center to Center accuracy with them and that's only shooting at 9 meter distances.  :o(    But they do hit hard.....penetrates 4 layers of soup cans and dents the fifth layer.
