CFX and the GRT III
« on: May 28, 2008, 07:28:41 AM »
In my recent discovery of the Air gunnig world in whitch I am fully hooked to like a new designer drug, But Without the after affects. Well other then the quest for the next rifle? But I think we would all agree that this is half the fun.  OK I will get to the point now. I bought a .177 CFX and then took the advice of many and replaced the frozen Gamo trigger with the GRT III......THIS IS AN AWESOME TRIGGER an up grade anyone with a stock Gamo should be looking at. To me it was a know brainer just look at the feed back from all of the experienced air gunners. After receiving my new trigger couple days before in the mail from CDT I finally found some time for the install. Before I started I went out back and fired my CFX on target about 15 times. Stock trigger still stiff and hard to pull second stage. I then went back to the garage and started disassembly. The online instructions were simple to follow and the photos realy made me feel more confident about the install. 20 minutes later I was back in the yard firing on target but this time with a huge smile on my face because of the massive difference it made to my rifle. My groupings are much  tighter and just the feel makes the CFX that much more fun to shoot. Thank you Charlie that was the best $ 32 bucks Iv spent in a long time. NEXT STOP SUPER TUNE !       Thanks again

Chris

I'll have to second that.  As you can see in the post below "New CFX"  I have only had mine a week.  I only shot it twice before putting in the trigger.  Now there's 2 new airgunners with big grins on their faces!!!

Enjoy

Just got my CF-X .177 today so stock everything. It was the combo and the scope and mounts are worthy of the $20 bucks extra you pay. But I don't know if I just got a real good one or what but I don't think I will be purchasing Bob's trigger(sorry Bob) because as a hunter the trigger felt very nice and didn't impair accuracy. I've only shot about 40 pellets through it and the trigger feels about 3 lbs even with almost zero creep. I know you shouldn't fire the PBA raptor ammo but I fired one and it was not loud at all. The CF-X to me is very quiet(My 760 pump master is louder) and quite accurate with CPL's, CPHP's, and RWS Superdomes. These were the three best pellets so far out of those three as well as Gamo Pro Mag's, Gamo Rockets, and Crosman Field Points. Also not very hold sensitive very forgiving. The only negatives comes with alot of oil on it, rotary breech at times can suck (not real bad though), and some spring twang out of the box but it should settle down a little after some more pellets are put through it. I pretty much just did my review of this gun under this thread. All well! lol
Gamo CF-X with Leapers 3-9x32ao and GRT-III trigger, also an old 760 pumpmaster with stock painted green, workin on a new addition soon

First off I am no expert !. Most of my back ground in the gun powder area. When I first started to brake in my CFX the trigger was stiff and  heavy and I new it would take some getting use to.. Then when ever I fired my 397 pumper the triger has a quick easy to pull snap that was so much better then the CFX. It seemed like with the Gamo I had to stare down on the target to long berore the trigger pulled. The longer I held the more I anticipated it going off. NOT GOOD FOR ME. As of now with the GRT III  it feels much smoother to pull with the surprise when it does go off and leaving little time for anticipation.. To me you really can't compare the too?  "It is really night and day!"  I am not telling you that you are wrong because you may like a hard pull and that would be your prefrence.  This is just the way I see it! "  Have fun with your CFX. "

It probably is that I just like a somewhat heavier pull. But as of right now I'm happy so oh well.
