Small Game hunting with my boy
« on: September 14, 2008, 02:48:24 PM »
Our small game season started on Sat. and my 11 year old expressed an interest in hunting squirrel.  We went out that afternoon and had a good time.  We saw a few but they were to far out to ethically take the shot.  We both still had a great time.  I have always been of the opinion that a successful hunting or fishing trip is not measured by a kill or a full stringer.  Just having the privilege of getting out there and enjoying the time outdoors is great.  A squirrel dinner or plate of fish is just a bonus.
His 901 Powerline has become a favorite shooter for both of us.  What a delight to shoot and carry.  Lightweight and very accurate.  I may have to get one for myself; it would make an excellent trunk gun.

Put that young man on a treestand just a bit before daybreak and let him watch the woods wake up one of these fine fall mornings.  Nothing like it.

Right you are Wade. It is a wonderful thing to go afield with your son.The pleasure and the memories can't be judged by the weight of the game bag. Thanks for sharing with us all.

Hunting is allot of fun,

Good times to be had by all. I always had a safety chat with the younger ones and probably went overboard. But now that they are older they tease me allot:) and talk about the things I told them when they did not know what they were holding. But they remembered and that was all I cared about:)

It\'s OK to explain why it won\'t work, but I like to give the guys making it work plenty of room:)
