need NEW BARREL on my QB36-2
« on: September 30, 2008, 11:32:22 AM »
The rifiling in my QB36-2 barrel is very shallow without sharp edges. I also think it's bore is a little big. Crosman premier hollow point which are exactly .22 cal go through with no signs of rifiling, bigger pellets show a wide arch shape without sharp edges. Is there another barrel that will fit this gun. And  how does this barrel come out. Any info would be much appreciated.

Anthony, The TF-99 barrel should also fit, check with Compasseco, or Umarex they may have one. I believe it is pressed in and there may be a small pin, holding it also.

Yes I bought this gun from compasseco, and I was thinking about calling them. Getting a pressed in barrel out, will probably be a tough job.

How long have you had it and has it been opened up? Reason I ask is, it may be better to swap it, under warranty.

I got it when they went on sale in the early spring for $109.  I think it was one of there last .22 ,  It had a week spring and the spring guide broke within the first couple of weeks.Compasseco promtly sent new spring and guide, no charge. and after putting it back  together it's been a nice smooth shooter all summer long. just not super accurate. I feel the gun has a pretty good platform but just a bad barrel.

Yeah thats what i thought. What do you think about boring end of barrel and putting a crosman 38T barrel into where I bore. there is a chamfered edge where the pellet enters this barrel. the barrel in the rifle is loose bore, I think the crosman barrel will act as a choke, should work as long as rifiling is same direction on both barrels.

I'm goin to put the crosman barrel in muzzle end,  to  Hopefully act as a choke and get the pellet spinng a little better, as the gun is now I'm getting some pellets keyholing

There's a good idea. I bet it would be cheap and fairly easy to put say a Quest barrel in, going that route.

Just drill out the rifling and epoxy in a Crosman 2200 barrel as a liner. The .2200 barrels are about the OD of a .22 rimfire barrel liner.
Or you could try shooting Beeman pellets(the good ones, not the cheap Chinese ones), since they're larger diameter than most other brands.
Crosmans and Gamo Rockets fit very loosely in my KL3B Fast Deer, but Beeman Crow Magnums are a perfect fit.
Read my reply to you in your thread about removing the barrel posted in the China gate.

A sleeve is what  I'd like to do. I want to keep that cone shape at the breech seal. But  I'm not sure I want to bore the whole leangth of the barrel. I have a crosman pistol barrel 6 inches long. I'm thinking, go as deep as i can with standard length drill bit that I have.and put this good crosman barrel in.I know it has good rifiling to get the pellet spinning better. and it is a tighter 22 bore than whats in the rifle so it would also act as a choke.
