Tool for Crosman 13XX
« on: October 10, 2008, 11:29:03 PM »
Although I did not have an issue with my variant II Model 1377, disassembly of this gun can be problematic, as evidenced from numerous posts on this and other forums. On many of these models, the breech barrel screw requires a size “0” square drive head for removal, a tool many (including me) do not have in their tool box.  (My pistol had a square drive head with a slot cut in it, allowing me to easily remove it with a proper-sized slotted screwdriver.)

While browsing through a local Home Depot the other day, I came across a screwdriver set that I ended up purchasing to replace a couple of narrow slotted blade screwdrivers that had mysteriously disappeared from my shop.  Although I did not need all of the included 37 bits, at $4.95 it was cheaper than buying just one good quality screwdriver.  When I got home and further examined the box, I noticed it included a size “0” square drive bit. Tried it out on my pistol and, sure enough, it fits perfectly!

The tool set is marketed by Husky, and manufactured in China.  While I enjoy owning and shooting Chinese air rifles, I not always enamored tools made in that country.  In my opinion the tool does not display the quality of say, Proto or Snap-on, but they do carry a lifetime replacement guarantee.  Good enough for my purposes…

Yeah, thanks. That little 4-48 breech screw has slowed me down before too. A lot of guys dremel a slot into the head once it's out--to avoid stripping that tiny hole. I've stripped a few myself.
good buy.
