Had to buy another one
« on: November 06, 2006, 03:14:14 PM »
I've been playing around with the synthetic stock Daisy 1000sb I bought the other day and, as crude as the gun is, the more I shoot it the more I like it.  Anyway, I decided I wanted to have the wooden stock version so I took the advice offered to me the other day by a fellow forum member and went to the Cabelas website and ordered it.  Should be here on Nov. 11th if their shipping info is correct.  The synthetic stock one I bought at Walmart came with the standard Daisy issue 3x9x32 scope (non AO) which works fine for me, but the wooden stock one coming from Cabelas has a 4x32 AO scope, which will even be nicer for hunting purposes.  I know these guns are nothin special, but sometimes I just really appreciate something that is just bare bones basic and works real well.   I'm still saving up for the Beeman R9 Goldfinger I've always wanted, but in the meantime I'm glad I got both versions of the Daisy/Winchester 1000.

I took one of my 1000SB's and put a .20 barrel in it with the power that rifle has it makes a screaming .20. The fps average with 11.2 FTS's  887. The trigger is crude the think recoils like a 06
but it sure shoots nice.  887 works out to a little over 19 fpe with 11.2's.

Trigger is not to bad after you mod. it, and if you lube tune it the thing qiuiets down nicely and smoothes out the firing cycle.

That's a 1/2 inch bull.

I just read the ad on cabelas and it states "Comes with a 3-9 x 32mm precision air rifle scope." so if your getting 4X scope I'm not sure what combo your getting. Anyway good luck with it and enjoy it. Oh, please write a review comparing the two.
Bart

I looked around cabelas site a little more and saw that they offer two different combo packages for the winchester 1000xs.

That double posting on Cabelas had, and still has, me stumped also.  The one listing the 3x9x32 scope shows a picture of the older style stock so I think that might be the older gun style that you get with that special.  The special I ordered from shows the newer version (full) wooden stock with the AO 4x32 and that's the one I ordered.  Even if I knew for a fact that the other (3x9x32) special was in fact the newer stock version I still would've ordered the one with the AO 4x32 scope anyway.  I like the 3x9x32 non AO that came with the one I bought at Walmart the other day, and I'll leave it on the gun as it shoots fine, but on the new rifle I ordered I'd much rather have AO and 4 power is just fine for the small game hunting I'll be using it for.  I definately will post a revies comparing the two versions after I have a chance to shoot them for awhile.

Peterdragin,  It's funny you should mention the .20 cal conversion,,,,, in the back of my mind I'm thinking maybe I might be interested in doing the same thing.  Those 45 yard targets are impressive.
