CONDOR .177 CHRONY READINGS
« on: November 12, 2008, 12:59:14 PM »
I used CPH 10.5 pellets with the power setting turned all the way down for this testing . The first fill was at 230O PSI with a start of 949 FPS to a high of 1104 and shot number 80 was 962 . It was a larger spread than I wanted so my next fill was at 2200 PSI . I will break this down in 20 shot strings . It was about 68 degrees inside and it never broke the speed of sound which is what I did not want to do .
String 1 - 1102, 1093, 1097, 1096, 1104, 1095, 1092, 1101, 1113, 1116, 1115, 1113, 1107, 1041, 1113, 1108, 1105, 1106, 1108, 1100, Average is 1101
String 2 - 1109, 1106, 1109, 1100, 1100, 1096, 1100, 1094, 1092, 1089, 1087, 1087, 1080, 1071, 1079, 1071, 1073, 1071, 1064, 1062, Average is 1087
String 3 - 1059, 1050, 1043, 1041, 1037, 1030, 1027, 1019, 1017, 1012, 1003, 1000, 997, 991, 988, 984, 975, 977, 969, 964, Average is 1009
The total average for 60 shots is 1066 . The first 40 shots are with in a 5 percent variation and the first 50 shots with in a 10 percent variation . I ran out of time so I don't know what could have taken place if I had turned the adjuster up at shot 50 and continued which I might do Friday . But I think I will try a 2100 PSI fill first and see what happens . Once I get the standard tank dialed in I will work on the micro - tank as well . At this point I believe I have my cake and I am eating it as well . Yes I am happy .Marvin

Marvin, I'm glad you're liking it. Just remember that the power wheel is not really what AirForce tells you it is... it is not a power adjuster, it's a spring tension adjuster, results may vary! You might want to move it across the low settings to find the consistency you're after.

Is the your condor top hat adjustable? or is it 1-piece?

Chris I am aware the adjuster is a spring load that is why I am trying to leave it were it is set and change The FPS .with the psi . I believe it will give me a more reliable effect on FPS and POI . The top hat on both tanks are adjustable . But on the condor not like the talon it is not the first choice and some consider it not a choice at all for power adjusting because of the large hole size in the valve . I am getting good shot count at the lower PSI so far so I think I will try the 2100 PSI before I do any other adjustments . Even if I go back to the 2200 PSI this gives me a lot of fills on one 80 cf tank and saves a lot of ware on my compressor. Thank  you for the imput and once I get the PSI right I will try the adjuster  Marvin

Yes the numbers are close . Thanks for posting yours it gave me a good idea were I needed to start and it saved me a lot of work . By next week I hope to have some numbers  with the micro - tank  on it . That should prove interesting . I have not seen any yet . A.F. says 600-700 fps 200 -300 shots with a .22 so I would think the .177 would do 700 -800 fps with the same shot count . I know the valve hole on the tank is small . Marvin

I have moved to the high end of the pressure range ...2800psi down to 2400 psi getting around 60 shots with 7.9gr.CPHP....FPS starts aroud 900fps and ends around 1080fps.....Not to bad for such a power house....I think those that say the CONDOR  is no good in .177 havent played with the new valve...and thier pressure guage...Looking forward to seeing the #s from the micro tank....I have the 12oz CO2 and adaptor on the way...BE SAFE .....SHELBY
