Hawkes scopes?
« on: November 28, 2008, 02:59:29 PM »
Been looking into buying a Hawkes scope. Ive heard nothing but good things about them but I need reassurence. Im looking specifically at the Hawke 3-12X40airmax for about 160$ from straightshooters. If anyone has owned a Hawkes scope I would like to hear what you think about them. Also on the rear piece of glass on my BSA 3-12X44 (the glass you can touch without opening the scope) has seemed to come loose somehow. In other words I can push it in and out to a certain degree. I may not know much about scopes but im pretty sure the glass isnt supposed to move. I havent tested it for accuracy yet but ill get back to you guys on that. So, is my scope falling apart? Ive had it on my BaikalMP513 for about 750-1000 shots now.

I have the Hawke Air Max 4-12X40 AO on my Diana RWS 34 Meisterschutze Pro Compact. I packs a good punch and the scope is holding up great so far. Put around 2 tens of pellets through her and the Air Max meets my standard of a good scope.
THE ONES I SLEEP WITH: BSA Lightning XL, AA TX-200, AA ProSport, BSA Ultra, HW-97K, Crosman NPSS .177, FX Cyclone, HW-30 Nicle Plated, AA-S200, Crosman Marauder, CZ-634, R-9 DG, Webley/Scott UK Tomahawk, Benji Kantana, Benji Marauder, Benji Discovery.....

I also have that same AirMax and it is a fine scope. It has been on two different high recoil rifles now with no problems and no POI shift. I will probably get a couple more before I am done.

I put a Hawke 3-9x40 on my Diana 34 when IAG went out of business. (Thanks again, Kevin)The scope has had zero issues on the 34. It's mounted with a leapers droop mount and b-square low sport utility mounts. I do like the Leapers mounts a bit more, due to the double sided tape they use in their mounts. The scope is awesome
I really like the map 6 reticule-and it comes with a programming cd. I think I'll use Hawke again-maybe on the next purchase.

4x12x40 Hawke on my R-9 Goldie,  3x9x40  Hawke on my M52 and 2x7x32 on my R-7.  I'm sold on Hawke!   The computer program they offer for free (windows only (drat!)) also works very well!

I don't think the Burris is springer rated.

I have heard that all burris are rated for spring guns.  Myself I have had one (a 2.5x ) since the 80s and untill a couple years ago it was on a rws45. there are only 4 manufacturers that all scopes they build are spring rated the way I heard it.  also mine is the sharpest glass of the scopes I own.  John
