4:30 DING DONG

OK THIS THING IS ANOYING!!!!  I was awoken by Harry's  gizmo at 4:30 sharp only to go out and see a mouse.  mabey 2 inches long out on the deck..  i sat up for a bit and surfed the web and it went off again..DING DONG,  Hmmm this thing will pick up cockroaches runnin outside.. Ok now I'm not sleepy anymore.  Check fridge for beer, Yep I'm good ta go for now..   DING DONG  ok here we go again,  OHHH big rat on outer corner of deck, stealthily I load the 2240 and turn on the green dot. And its red,hmmm, I fiddle with it till its low green, then as i take aim he drops over the edge and is gone, crappp  back to the puter i go, 4:59 now and the beer is starting to sound good,  hey its the weekend !!!!  I wonder why the Knob on my red green dot is bas ackwards, hmmm  Mabey Mrs. Quest has been jackin with it. I like ta keep it to where ya turn it clockwise and it comes on green at its lowest setting but it came on red.. I must have talk with woman... ugg... Its all her fault, the split second timing I have all planned out was disrupted by her not turning the knob back the same direction..  OOhhhh now I see the blanket on the couch and was wondering why my gun had been moved, [just thought she had been cleaning] That woman was trying to sneek in on my hunting grounds.. I bet she snuck the dang reciever in the living room while I was sleepin and was trying to out do my 18 incher.. her best is only 17.5 and it just erked her arseee when i beat her record rat kill..  Why is there a shirt hung over the front door window. Ohhhh she's good, block the light from the driveway motion sensor so when the cars come by it doesent light up the house... Ok its all becommin clear now. WOMEN ya better watch em!!!!   5:20 now and all is quiet, dangit..

Well you know what they say Johnny,....if ya can't beat them, join them. You'll just have to accept the fact that she's a better shot than you and that's that!!!! LOL's Just a little bit of ribbin' Bro'. Luckily for you, her interest wih AG's is growing and the two of you can enjoy eliminating pests together. Now that's LOVE!!!!!
Speaking of an early AM brew, I'm tempted to grab one right now, but got a road trip in a while so they'll have to wait! Dang!!!!tjk

Thomas, whats wierd is that she should be a member of PETA.. she loves animals... BUTTT SHE HATES RATS..LOL
 I need to get her more trained on the gun settings tho, she is screwing up my MOJO.. LOL..   I would have never thought that I would have to compete with her on varmit size..  She does have the biggest kill so far with that 15 lb. lpossum and does not let me live It down..  But her rat kill of 17.5 is what we are competing against.  She didn't like it one bit when I got the black rat and beat her..  Can you believe she would sneek around like this and try to undermind the great white hunter... lol...

I baited the ditch behind the house for the elusive coyotees.  Three weeks ago they killed my wifes cat and left the head and one front leg.  Collar still on her. Set target up at the bait site (23 yards) and practiced hours for that one faithful moment.  1/4" groups with predators.  The tuned D54 awaits for the defining moment.  Wanta use a dying rabbit call but live in the suburbs of Tucson.  I have a block 5' wall separating property from ditch.  The shooting bag lays atop of the wall.  I sit behind the wall in a lawn chair listening for the slightest sound.  A week ago that sound was loud and clear.  I inched over the wall and two yote's hit the bait.  Took aim at the brain but they were moving to much or not a good killing shot available.  They picked up bait and left.  This time I staked bait down.  Perhaps this morning one coyotee will meet his maker.

Pleased to see there are other occasional breakfast drinkers. We believe weekends are to be enjoyed.
Mommy has her own new little R7 and she is freakin' deadly with it. I would like to take it away from her but I'm not sure I could. Anyway, she came with 2 dogs so I don't get the rat population I used to. But you would not want to be a beer bottle cap in the back yard!
Today we are going to have a little scope mounting party. I made the poor thing learn to shoot with irons, then offhand, before moving to optics. She is a natural.
Drinkies in the morning, women who shoot (well)... these are indeed the good old days!

Breakfast of Champions!  Sounds like the little lady (ladies) may be ready for some serious competitive shooting with a 10-Meter rifle to me.  As I read, I understand that many at the World Champion level are indeed "the weaker *_*_*_*_*_*" (oops, gender).  Apparently this is not so with a rifle in their sweet little hands.  Congratulations to both of you for your trophy shooting wives.  

My wife of these past 35 years doesn't shoot.  And she has a peculiar incongruity regarding squirrels/tree rats.  They seem to be cute little lovable creatures until I shoot, clean and dress one for cooking.  Then it's "yuck don't bring that in the house -- I can't eat that.  It would be just like eating a rat."  Haven't eaten any rat meat, but I suspect she may be right.  Historically, the British sailors in the day of the wooden ships considered them a pretty good meal, from what I read -- along with the "bargemen" -- the larger variety of weevils that typically infested the barreled stores of biscuits.  Yummy.

So, cook yourself up a tree rat omelet and a biscuit or two, and tip another cold one for the rest of us JQ.  And maybe a Hostess Ding Dong for desert?

Luckily I am a lot better off than you Randall.  I have no mice or rats (that I know of).  It's kind of rural here being in the outskirts of town and they are just not around.  I think I 'd go crazy if they were.  I would probably end up shooting the receiver if it went off every time a mouse walked by it :-)  The only time the wireless receiver (oh it's "Harry's receiver now? is it? blame me why don't you? heheh) goes off, it's when a skunk, possum or racoon(s) show up, and the occasional cat.  I 'm lucky these are house cats and are brought inside every night usually before 9pm.  I have only encountered one cat once or twice in the wee hours of the morning because the neighbors across the street went away for a wknd and forgot to lock the cat in.  I let her eat in peace for a couple of minutes and then scare her away because I used to own cats and hated leaving my cat outisde when we had to go away because she wouldn't come when we called.

Anyway, good luck competing with the wife!  hehehe.  Don't let her tell you her possom was 15lbs.  They don't get that big.  10-11lbs is probably the most a possum will get up to.  They are usually 7-9lbs.  If the ding-dong gets too much or you feel tired, just call it in and turn the receiver off.  That's what I do.  I can see you 're going to have many sleepless nights until you get that 18.5 incher!!  hehehe  Especially with all that rodent activity.  BTW, it would be best to point the sensor away from any light source like car lights.  I have it facing away from my powerful outdoor spot light.  The sensor sometimes goes off in the afternoon when the sun shines on it directly but that was only in the Fall.  Now that winter is here it seems the sun is not hot enough to set it off but I keep it off most of the day anyway and usually bring the bait in so the neighborhood cats don't eat it all.
Good luck my friend and stay off the ding dongs or ring dings like Tommy advised you!!  :-)  You don't want to gain a few pounds on top of losing sleep!  hehehe   Look what I started now..  I 'm looking forward to everyone else's "ding dong" stories that has bought "my sensor" :-)

Harry I woke up AT 12:00 man what a night..  I have confirmed my suspicions with the the wife..

 She did steal the ding thing and sat in the living room with my gun and waited for the bell to go off..
 She shot 1 rat at 1:30  and then came to bed... She said it was a small one and wasn,t worth waking me up for..  I have the reciever out back on the back deck mounted 14 inches high on the deck rail.  I have a 500 sq ft. deck and it covers most of the area...
 Its fixin ta get fun...  More feed, shorter nights, and dead varmits...

Randall, it sounds like you two need your own wireless sensor and split up the deck in hal..  heheh

I woke up at Noon today too!  Great minds sleep alike :-)
