Had a conversation with Beeman this morning...
« on: December 18, 2006, 04:15:27 AM »
...had a couple of generic questions to ask them. The main one was "What's the difference between the GS1000 and the GH1050"?

Well, she told me that the stock was different and that the trigger on the GH1050 wasn't adjustable.

"Is it a direct sear?"

"What do you mean?

"Does the trigger directly act on the piston to release it?"

"Oh, no. That's like the Gamo. We have a cheap chinese rifle that uses that. This is still a 2 stage trigger mechanism, but it's not adjustable"

"OK. One more thing - do you know the trigger pull weight on the GH1050?"

"Yes. 6-8 pounds"

Looks like there's no GH1050 in MY future...

Look on the bright side, you found that info out BEFORE you bought it.  Gotta like knowlegable c/s people....sounds like they would call  back after leaving messages....unlike the Gamo c/s??? He He He :D

You see, after tasting that SS1000 last spring, there was NO WAY I was gonna get another cheap Beeman before I knew more about it. Even though the lady insisted that the GH1050 has a different mechanism than the one I had, I'm not so sure. After all, the Chinese merely copy the existing designs.

She also seemed to get a little - er, snobby - when she mentioned Gamo. And no, they don't have "direct sears" like she seems to think, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find one with such a horrendous trigger pull. 6-8lbs? With that kind of trigger weight, you ain't gots no reason to get snobby about your products.

Besides, she shouldn't be slamming a competitor when she doesn't know much of anything about them.

Oh - I almost forgot - I had called them a couple of weeks ago at just about 7:00 our time (4:00 their time). The lady transferred me to CS, where I remained on hold for 20 minutes - with the recording constantly asking me to continue holding. I finally hung up and called back - and found that they had all gone home at 4:00 (when I first called).

LOL, I got put on hold this morning when I called Gamo AGAIN, this time I tried to contact the "operator", huh, they fooled me, even the operator has an answering machine.  I had found that my credit card was charged for the stock 12 days ago, but still no stock and I can't get through to anyone at c/s AGAIN.......I am not pleased....... who am I kidding I'm f*&$ing furious!!

Not making excuses for 'em....

....but no doubt this IS the busiest time of the year. Some days I seem to be able to get through fairly easily, other days - ferget it!

One thing their CS told me is that they're doing a lot of tune-ups for hunting season. For some reason, I never pictured someone sending a gun BACK to Gamo for non-warranty work, given the mediocre job they frequently do putting the guns together to begin with...

I suppose that with all of the air guns they sell there are a good portion of customers who just put pellets in it and shoot it.  When something goes wrong they send it back for repair.  I can say that because a few years ago that would've been me...He He He.  Seriously though, back then I wouldn't have thought you could gain more accuracy by using a pellet the gun "liked" either.  I would've used whatever pellet I bought at the store and if it didn't group well I would've said this gun's accuracy sucks!  I'm sure there are still a few people out there that would say the same thing.  Thats the greatest thing about the internet and forums like this....so much valuable information.  I know I've learned a lot so far..........!

I also understand that this is their busy time of the year and all, I'm sure it is for most businesses, I'm just a little unnerved by the fact that my credit card has been charged and 12 days later I still don't have the stock.  Did they ship it on the 6th or 7th when it was posted to my account??? Or is it a problem with the shipping company??  I guess my impatience is showing :p
