Looking for input from Leapers users.
« on: February 07, 2007, 02:28:46 PM »
I have a BAM B26 standard .22 that I need to scope.
I am looking heavily at the 3-9x32A/O True Strength.
I have used a Tech Force scope from Compasseco before, also considering one of those.

I missed the $27 deal on the Tasco Golden Antler (crap!)

For those of you who haven't seen them, Natchez has refurbed BSA's at unreal prices.

Looking for likes/dislikes from you Leapers users.  Thanks

I have several Leapers 3x9x50 scopes and a 4x16x50 and I love em.  They have worked flawlessly  and have even stood up to my GAMO 1250 and my RWS 350 magnum.  I just ordered another 3x9x50 for my new B26-2.

Like LI, I have Leapers scopes on my hunting guns.

My RWS 350 has a Leapers 4X16X50 True Strenght on it and my Shadow has a 3X9X40.  They are great, rugged and clear view scopes in my opinion.  The mil dot and illuminated reticle are a bonus for me.  I use the mil dots often to correct for longer shots and it takes the guess work out of it for me.

I'd recommend them.

.

I have a Leapers 4-16x56, and it's better than my N/K Nighteater, imho.

The only downside is that the Leapers are heavier.

I have 2 Leapers, both 3-12x44, one full size, the other compact.  Really happy with both of them, although I think the full size is the better scope.  It just seems a little sharper overall, the compact has a sort of fisheye effect, like using a wide angle camera lens.  Also not as good at the edges compared to the full size.  Oh, and the eye releif isn't as good, either.  Gee, did I say I like the full size better :-)?

:D I got just the thing for you.  My new b26 with "up grade tune" from Mike Melick.  I went the opposite way....All my airguns have large and heavy LEAPERS scopes.  I wanted something small and light to match my 26.  Get a leapers 11mm to weaver adapter.  This mount is off set so you can get the proper eye relief with the short scope.   Then a pair of leapers 1" low weaver rings.  The scope to buy is the LEAPERS BUG BUSTER.  In 6 x 32.  Small and light weight,  very good optics.  What scope would be better than this?  LEAPERS BUGBUSTER IN 3-9 X 32.  I've seen this advertised all over the net, so I  called OPTICS PLANET and was told they had this on order with LEAPERS since SEPT. 08.  When this puppy comes out I will order three.  If you are going hunting with this rilfe and large scopes...3-9 x 40 or bigger,  consider carrying the extra weight and bulk.  BUGBUSTERS are only 7.8" long, the weight is in  oz. not pounds.  Hope this helps.

I've got a Leapers 3-9x32A/O on my .22 B-26 already and the weight isn't bad.
I've decided to give Tech Force a try though, no more Leapers for me.

I just got a Leapers 4x32 Mini AO (Bug Buster) with red/green illuminated mil-dot. I love it. It's very clear with plenty of light. The mil-dot system works great and the illuminated reticle is nice and will come in handy for those low-light squirrel hunts in the deep woods. All said, it was a great buy at ~$50.00. I'm using it on my B3-1 .22, and it's an awesome combo. I'd put one of these on a .22 powder-burner in a heartbeat.

I got mine here.

I also have a Tech Force 2-7x32 AO scope that I got with this combo. This is also an awesome scope, although the combo comes with crap rings that are too low for the scope :eyeroll:. This scope needs a high profile, one-piece mount.

Both of these are very sturdy, clear, bright and accurate scopes. They are both very well built.

Between the two, I like the Leapers better only because of the rubber, flip-up caps that are perfect for stalking through the woods.

YMMV but that Leapers is a true bargain for the price.

Kev,
Good luck with your Leapers. I wasn't as fortunate in my time with them.
I have a Tech Force 4x32 A/O and 2-7x32A/O coming to the house.  I've spoken to 2 different Tech's at Comp***co at length about these.
They are the old BSA design and are very durable.  In fact, the design hasn't been altered because of their success and extremely low return rate.
Mine will be capped with Butler Creeks, they're great!

YMMV?

One of my four Leapers bug busters 6x32 AO has the reticle about 10 degrees off, but otherwise I'm very pleased with clarity and wide range of adjustability.  AO and mil dots quickly became essential features.  They seem to shrug off the pounding of high performance springers.  I like the small size and bright image.  Pyramyd Air has had plenty in stock the last few weeks.

One of my four Leapers bug busters 6x32 AO has the reticle about 10 degrees off

You should be able to adjust that reticle. Usually you have direct access to them after removing the eyepiece.
